The study of the Masters is mainly focused by a student is to look at the aspects of work and life in a different perspective.
According to Kember (1995, in Woodley, 2001) The Social and academic characteristics that the student undergoes in an academic institution will definitely help the main objective of the student, which is to integrate social and academic aspects such as work and family.
Positives factors that can be understood are given below The different style of leaning with lecture modules , techniques and working them out in assessments and course work naturally gives a satisfaction to me as I have to work along with the module an finally I do put in my effort through the course work and the assignments. Prescott and Simpson (2004) did not discussed in details the Self-fulfillment needs and have simply associated Independent learning with it. It can be inferred, that Independent Learning is the one of the manifestations of Self-fulfillment when considering the Hierarchy of needs of the student. A classroom would meet as many of the needs of students as possible, especially the safety, belonging and esteem needs( Bilash 2009)
It s important that as students we are exposed to different people in the university specially friends in the same lie of study, As these students comes from various backgrounds and work areas it’s important to network, as they might see areas that I cannot see and they would have their point of view in subject areas and discussions, It help you to broaden the knowledge as well as to look at things from a different angle. Families or communities with little or no experience of HE may be less supportive of members’ participation”.( Thomas 2002,p.428), Its most important that family support is received by the student , as this can lead the student if not received to drop out from the studies. The latest modern learning methods are through technology, the use of technology is more interesting and applications such as WOLF, Evision are very new to me to be using in the day to day studies.
Negative culture shocks also can be experienced during this tenor of studies
Lack of guidance to academic work is a negative I see in the university as a foreign student there sometimes I feel that because I don’t come from a background of such nature of studies .Difficulty in adopting in to new learning methodology and style of learning, not exposed to social learning methods can be a constrain to the student, Technology approach is very monotonous at times and too complicated as clear guidelines are not received to use the WOLF as well as the other resources such as library. No mechanism to find out individually at a glance where you are lacking in the early part of your studies and must always refer the module leader to understand.
The positive factors have helped me to understand the necessary fundamental and the process from the university and the negatives are to be considered as challenges or obstacles to complete my study.

    Learning theories have been influential since the 20th century and are now used as diagnostic tools to help identify styles in which learners learn, (Avis et al. 2010). The summary behind these concepts, propose that all people learn differently, and to ensure individual learning needs teachers need to recognize these styles to address differentiation and learning needs of individual within group of learners, (Jarvis, 2006). The key learning theories from research are; behaviourism, cognitivism and humanist. Key academics Pavlov, Skinner and Watson (1973) influence the theory behind behaviourism. They approach behaviourism as a scientific approach towards a desired goal, consisting of reinforcement to shape behaviour. In thus the teachers act as a stimulant; shaping behaviour via repetition and habit forming to create a response. However influential theorists Bruner (1966), Piaget (1926) and Gagne (1985), argue that this style is manipulative, the learner will know how that learning process takes place but not necessarily know why? Behaviourist looked at the environment stimuli influencing response, whereas cognitivists look at the individual’s mental process in learning and how they gain that knowledge. Bruner (1966) believes people learn with the acquisition of knowledge as social process of problem solving. The focus stems to establishing positive conditions that promote the individuals path of being ‘ready to learn’, establishing a ‘meaning to learning’; with initiative and analytical thinking and finally with relevance of self- fulfilment of what ‘motivates the learner’. This takes away the behaviourist approach of learning without an external reward to learning with independent meaning in which you create your own path. Lastly Humanist approach to learning develops the idea of the learners at the centre of the learning process, (Maslow, 1970 and Rodgers et al, 1983).
