Beneatha Character Analysis
For my character I chose Beneatha. Beneatha’s dream was to become a doctor. Her dream was not achieved in the play because she didn’t have enough money to go to college. In my opinion she would have never achieved her dream. I say this because her family was against her becoming a doctor. They didn’t have any faith in her and would always make jokes about her becoming a doctor. I feel this would have caused Beneatha to not achieve her dream because she would feel nobody was on her and she would soon not care about the dream. In the end of the play Beneatha stated, “It used to matter. I used to care. I mean about people and how their bodies hurt…” ( Hansbery 88). This shows that she did give up hope at the end of the play and this is why her
dream was not achieved.
My dream in life is to become a critical nurse. Not just a critical nurse who works in a hospital, I want to work with wounded soldiers and veterans. Critical nurses in the military don’t just help the wounded. They also go out and help give vaccinations, help people in the area who might have gotten injured from the fighting, and they do so much more. I want to be a critical nurse for the military because i feel the soldiers are giving their lives for ours and they deserve to have someone there that will help them no matter what. It is also my dream because I want to help the other countries that doesn’t have it as good as us. I want to help the little kids get vaccinated before they get diseases, I want to help them get clothes and shoes.
