There are several benefits of learning Wing Chun such as maintaining good body posture, exercising and relaxing muscles, improving our attention, enhancing cardiorespiratory and improving our intelligence and reaction time.
In first, as one of the most important theories of Wing Chun is Centerline concept, people who play Wing Chun must always keep staying in their centerline to protect themselves. Therefore people would keep their body straightly and prevent bent to occur. For children who are in growth stage, it contributes to the growth of bones. For teenagers, it helps adjusting the position fitness. For elderly, it helps with activating joints, slow aging, degradation and make life more vigorous.
Secondly, we can learn how to relax the muscles. When we practice Wing Chun like hitting a sandbag, we are required to tight our muscles and hit the sandbag and then loose our muscles quickly at the moment when we just touch the sandbag. Our muscles can have a good train, as we need to practice it repeatedly.
Thirdly, playing Wing Chun benefits us with enhancing our attention since Wing Chun claims that the mind to be calm, the body to be loose as well as requiring a fast response. We need to concentrate on our opponent and interactive with his action immediately therefore it helps us to focus and strengthen willpower and patience as well as our attention.
Fourthly, practicing Wing Chun can enhance our cardiorespiratory function and improve cardiovascular as well as oxygen content. Although the Wing Chun postures are seemingly easy and relaxed and does not need a large movement of the body, our body will heat and sweating slightly if the standard in place and practicing it for a period of time. Furthermore our breath should balance with our motion in playing Wing Chun, otherwise our cannot use our power in a proper way. So Wing Chun helps to take regulation of our breathing, and regulate the cardiovascular system.
