Many non-members of the WOCN do not realize what the Members-only benefits are until it is too late. Membership with WOCN “provides benefits aimed to deliver day to day support in their practice,” members accumulate a saving of over $1,400 dollars when they join. Benefits include “a subscription to the Journal of Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing, a connect to other WOC Nurses through the Members-only Membership Directory, a Registration Discount for the Annual Conference, Continuing Education Center (CEC) Course Discounts” () and so much more. Although membership comes with many benefits, grounds for termination include “unauthorized use of the Society’s name, logo, etc., and immoral, dishonorable, or unprofessional conduct considered prejudicial to the best interests of, or inconsistent with the purposes of, the Society and failure to comply with the By-laws of the corporation.” Discovering a place in the WOCN Society can mean many benefits for potential members and active members only if By-laws are …show more content…
An example is a Wound Specialty Care Program, it is given in 2 formats: online and on-site, the class dates start Feb. 22- March 6, 2016. The WOCN members play a role in political involvement for the Society when they petition bills, amendments, or just take a stand in Washington for their patients. An example of WOC nurses acting politically would be John Reichard’s report on a cut in Medicare, he took a stand for his patients to say Medicare pays for his patient’s treatment measures.
