Nurses need to be effective with their critical thinking skills and utilize the resources at hand. Using base knowledge to prevent catastrophic events from occurring, such as the potentiation effect of medication. Knowing ,when we as nurses, have met our ability to perform effectively and need assistance is not only important for our well being but the well being of the patient and the organization as a whole. Integrating teamwork in the patient care effort not only builds a solid foundation for the organization but also for the positive outcome of the patient being treated. If for some unfortunate reason an adverse event does occur nurses must remember they “provide valuable insights into care processes when working with patient safety leaders as part of a root cause analysis team. Nurses ' unique knowledge of the care provided is essential for designing the best improvements in care processes” (Hall, Moore, & Barnsteiner, 2008). Probably among the most import ways a nurse can improve quality of care is his/her own self care. This can be done in many ways. Meditation for stress reduction, continuing education for confidence in patient care, are just a few examples. Having a rested, positive, confident attitude when preparing and performing patient care can make difference and help her do no harm and give the utmost quality of care to each patient she/he comes in contact…

My task was to look after the Southern European and Emerging Markets and organise and book familiarization trips for them. I was looking after and managing the budget allocated for the fam trips as well I had to make sure that the experience delivered to those tour operators was matching every specific market expectations. It was also down to me to match the appropriate Scottish suppliers with the right delegates (I had to extensively got to know the companies’ profiles to know what sort of products/services they were looking for/selling to their clients). Therefore, I had to learn how to skilfully negotiate beneficial conditions for myself without compromising the quality of the delegates’ experience and still making sure that the Scottish trade will benefit from their visit and that each delegate will find a potential partner that they will then work closely with. I also had to work closely with my colleagues who are in charge of these markets to find out what the delegates who are attending the trip are looking for to make sure that the trip is tailor-made to them and that I introduce right buyers to appropriate Scottish suppliers.…

In this twenty first century, where modern health care system is evolving rapidly and getting more complex by the day. Patient are being diagnosed with new diseases, prescribed new medications, newer test are being ordered and new sophisticated procedures are being performed. In this current demanding healthcare system, physicians are spending less and less time with their patients. This is where nurses step in. Now nurses are not just responsible for bedside patient care, they are now expected to be the patients educator, patients advocate, counselor and at times are nurses are responsible for doing more and more interventional procedures, like Peripherally inserted central catheters. In 2010, Institute of Medicine (IOM) and Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWF) did a research and made recommendations on the future of nursing, leading change and advancing health. The report stress on providing a patient centered, safe, quality and affordable and accessible to the patient population.…

Changing to a team nursing care approach will improve the quality of care for the patients and residents. The nursing team provides total continuous care to a group of patients which avoid the possibility of the important information or priority of care to be missed. This method benefits both nursing team and the patients and would be a better fit for my workplace. Working together as a team, nurses and other team members not only collaborate and coordinate the care toward the same goal toward a patient-centered care but also share responsibility and accountability together. This approach alleviates nurses from assuming complete responsibility for the patient care, which makes her less pressured and less stressed out. Instead of completing tasks that are assigned to each discipline in my workplace, we should change the culture of delivering care as a team approach. Also, allowing additional staff, who can assist the nurses such as the ward clerk and the appointment scheduler that can cover the non-nursing tasks and allow nurses to spend more time with the…

Our first SMART goal was to increase the sets or repetitions for the participants each session, but it unfortunately was not achieved. We noticed they were bored with the repetitiveness of the same routine, which brought us to devise a plan to get them better motivated. Instead of traditional weightlifting and cardio, we implemented sports equipment, such as soccer balls, volleyballs, and kickballs, and changed the workout routine a bit. Once we changed it and made a new SMART goal, we measured the progress by making sure the participants were actively motivated for at least thirty minutes of the session. We started with making sure they could stay active for fifteen minutes, and then the next session for twenty minutes, until we reached our goal of thirty minutes. Each week we saw an increase in their motivation and performance after we gave them encouraging remarks for their accomplishments in games that we took part in as well, like…
My philosophy of nursing has been continually changing since I started the BSN program. Nursing mission is to serve our patients and communities with compassion, equality, excellence, partnership, and stewardship. Moreover, patient care must be Evidence base practice to ensure positive patients outcomes. Banner’s theory of professional growth introduce the concept that the expert nurses develop skills and understanding of patient care over time through education and experience (Journal of Nursing, 1982, p. 30). The Cooperative Work Experience course allowed me to reflect on my daily patient care. Before taking this course, I will start my day by getting bedside report and then provide care for my patient. This course has taught me to start my day with a set personal, professional goal, and to end it analyzing my accomplishments and failures. These goals include evidence practice, professionalism, and team dynamics.…
