Benefits Of Year-Round Schooling
School

Schooling is one of the most important key concepts of anyone’s lives. Going to school and getting good grades depends on how well your future will be. If I could plan my ideal school, I would make it to where we go to school all year and then get a 3 or 4 month break, I would start school at a later time, depending on age and grade, one last thing I would change are the ways of extra curricular activities, like when they take place and how they take place. School is an important aspect for certain ages. In my opinion only certain ages should have to go to school. Those ages are 6 to seventeen. I feel like at the age of seventeen you should be able to make your own choices and know right from wrong. One thing that I think should

You could do year-round schooling or you could go to school for 8 months out of the year and then get 4 months off. In my opinion it would be best if you went to school 8 months and then got 4 months off. It would be easier to divide grades like this and you won’t be forced to remember everything you learned that year. Also if you did year round schooling how would you do after school activities. Scientists say, “year round schooling takes away parent and student bonding time.” (Zubrzycki, 2016). In my opinion doing year round school would be hard to advance students to the next grade. Therefore I would go to school for 8 months out of the year and then get 4 months …show more content…
Scientists state: “An average 14 year old is not fully awake until 10.” (Meltzer). Homeschooled students are more healthy because they are able to sleep in and get more rest for their bodies (Meltzer). In my ideal school grades kindergarten through fifth should start at 8, grades sixth through eighth should start at 9, and last grades ninth through twelfth should start at 10. In addition to this the grades would have to stay later for school. This being said grades kindergarten through fifth get out at 3 and grades sixth through twelfth would get out at 4. Doing this allows students to get stuff done after school and still be able to get enough sleep. In conclusion, if I could plan my ideal school, I would make it to where we go to school all year and then get a 3 or 4 month break. I would start school at a later time, depending on age and grade. Doing this essay and research made me realize how important school actually is. I do believe in education and school but are all the standards that we have to meet completely necessary? I feel that we, as students, should have more freedom than what we have, especially if we spend most of our time at

There are going to be a lot of revisions in the future, and change is pretty much unavoidable due to the altering lifestyles that are occurring on a daily basis. To make school available to all that attend schools need to incorporate flexibility into their classrooms to make teaching our children a success. For example, the families with two working parents have a difficult time getting the students to and from school due to their work schedules. This could be addressed with schools holding different hours. Another example would be the students who learn at a different level than others. This could be addressed by students that tend to have a harder time grasping things can be paired with a student that is excelling in the…

The traditional schedule for school is outdated because in the old days, it allowed for children to help harvest crops during the summer. Now, the long summer just enables kids to be lazy and easily forget what they learned at the end of the previous school year. If a year round school year were to be implemented, kids would not be able to be as lazy and breaks would not be so long as to let kids forget a whole bunch of their school curriculum.…

Schools should be year-round because of many factors like the fact that year-round schooling can generate strong feelings. A 1994 report, “Prisoners of Time,” argued that “a departure from the traditional school calendar could better meet the needs of contemporary society and result in increased student achievement.” Research has also shown that year-round schooling does have an effective on students. Reviews of existing literature on this subject generally contend that the achievement of children in year-round schools is as good as, or slightly better than, that of their peers in traditional schools (Palmer & Bemis, 1999; Kneese, 1996). Another example would be a study on six elementary schools where year-round schools posted overall-test-score increases that was higher than those of traditional schools (Kneese, 2000). Schools should also be year-round because the common belief is that after a long three-month summer break, students are forgetting what they learned the previous year and teachers are wasting valuable time trying to review everything from the previous year. A review of 39 studies that has been conducted showed that students test scores drop over summer vacation and that mathematics…

One of the major benefits of year-round school is that it aids students in a way that they can increase their overall grade. Students are less likely to forget what they have previously learned in school due to the lack of large breaks in the school year. Most importantly, there is more time. More time for school means more time can be devoted to each unit or section of material a teacher is covering. Less pressure to learn information in two weeks or even a month can help students apply their new knowledge to the long-term memory and gives more time for student to comprehend ideas in a more complex manor.…

The most important aspect of grasping the new age thought of year round education is to realize it does not mean more school. The original thought of year round school is to go one hundred eighty days, with shorter breaks throughout the year. This is opposed to a single large break at the end of the year. There are a few different ways to allocate the free time into the schedule. The most widely used method is 45/15, which means students would attend school for forty-five days then have a fifteen-day break. With such a system, teachers would spend far less time reviewing information, since much learning loss happens in the long three months of summer.…

Year-round Schooling Some people think we should have year-round schooling because their children will remember what they learned over their short break. Others think we shouldn't have year-round schools because their minds will be ready to learn more after the long break. I understand that children need to keep their minds going and remember the things they learned but we shouldn't have year-round schooling because having to go through that much schooling will stress the children out and they don't need to get stressed out more than they already are. I have a friend that lives downstate so we wouldn't have much time to hang out and do things together because of the short breaks in year-round schooling.…

The traditional 3 month long summer break is a problem for today's youth. Year-Round school is a system where students will go to school 180 days just like the traditional school system but instead it is throughout the year and not just September-June. () The traditional school system was created in the nineteenth century. The country was mainly agricultural at this time. Farms were ran by families and children needed…

Teachers that work for the year round schedule have said that their students grades have been good but there is no proof that they are better. Having the same grades as a 9 month school isn't a benefit. Both school types teach the same lessons and lectures, so there isn't a difference in what the students learn. Students who would need to take advantage of summer school don't get that opportunity because of the small time in the summer break. Teachers believe that because there is no three month summer vacation their students remember the text better. What is the point of that if their grades are gonna be the same as if they had a 3 month summer.Students that attend school year round get 11 fewer days to review for the STAAR test because of vacation setups. The STARR test is a big test of the year that needs as much review time possible .Year round school does make it easier for the students to remember what they are taught, but there's no actual guarantee that their improving…

Education is the fundamental key to our everyday lives. Knowledge is what keeps our economic growth possible. We are all taught, since childhood, that learning is a way to empower one's self, which is why our school systems are an important part of our society. Recently, a debate has emerged as whether the year round calender is better for our students than our current ten month calender year. While three thousand other schools may have had their districts change their school systems to work year round, we must not do the same. A year round school system would do little more than frustrate us and our parents while costing the school board more. A year round system would limit our vacataions, our ability to hold summer jobs, and would put us…
