Beowulf Theme Essay The poem Beowulf has many themes like Man vs. Supernatural, Revenge, and Good vs. Evil. These themes are all important to the entire story because Beowulf faces each conflict, there is different perspective of each theme. Beowulf is a poem about an epic hero named Beowulf, he is a brave and courageous young man who goes up against the story antagonists Grendel and Grendel mother. He doesn’t want to become a hero because of the riches he will gain but instead he wants to do it because of the honor he will gain and a legacy that will be told for generations to come, so he won’t be forgotten because of his heroic actions. Evil. Good vs. evil is basically just someone or a group of people who is either aligned with either good or evil goes up against the other group people or someone who is also aligned with good or evil also. In the poem you can easily know who is good and who is bad; the people who would be aligned with the good is Hrothgar and his men, Beowulf and his crew and obviously all the humans, now for the ones who is aligned with evil is Grendel and his minions plus his Grendel mother who is introduced later on in the story.
