Being a bus boy for this restaurant was probably the most difficult thing to do. Not only did I have to clean tables off, but I also had to sit people down and get their drinks. The bussers had to constantly walk back and forth through the dining area to make sure people got what they wanted. It got real tiring after a while, especially if you weren’t wearing comfortable shoes. At the end of a long day my feet would be killing me, but I guess it was also my fault for not wearing comfortable shoes. Rush hour was never fun, that’s when we had to really hustle around the restaurant and tend to people other wise we weren’t going to have happy customers. I had to clean tables and get them set just as fast so that the people waiting up front could sit down and usually I would have to clean a table by myself during rush hour because the other bussers were either busy or we didn’t have enough bussers which always made me mad because I would have to do double the work in the same amount of time as if there was another busser helping me. It was very stressful and demanding on me, but in my opinion the worst part of being a busser had to be brining dinner tables up and down the basement stairs when we had big parties come in. The tables were big and heavy and the staircase was super narrow and curved. So when we got to the curve the other busser and me had to lift it over our heads to get around the bend and to make things even more difficult there was always stuff on the steps so we had to make sure we didn’t trip over anything. Then came the door, the most challenging obstacle to get through with the…
I job I found pays $20.72 an hour. Sounds like it would work out for me. I never had a job where I make $20 dollars an hour. The most I ever made was 12.30 an hour. This would give me 198,912.00 dollars in five years without anything coming out of it. That would be my gross pay, but my net pay would be in five years 14,520.48 dollar. That is my net pay. Every month my take home pay is 1,210.04 dollars. But then I have to take out money for the bills and try and put some into my savings so I can buy a house in 5 years. This is the brake down of the bills……

The day was sunny and warm. The children were playing soccer in the street. The lady was walking with her daughter. My sister was talking with her friends. My grandmother was cooking and the smell of rice made me hungry. I knew my day would be awesome.…
My first job was horrible. I did not really know how bad those fast food jobs really were until I got my first job. I was a cook at Whataburger. Yes Whataburger in Decatur, the Texas treasure, the Alcatraz of the west, the worst place to work in America. Believe me when I say that Whataburger is the closest thing to hell a human can experience. Maybe not that far, but it is bad. The job was not that bad at first. Everyone would joke around be relaxed, and have a good time. However, Whataburger does something to you. Whataburger sucks your soul out of you in an agonizing process known as “Whataburger’ll do that to ya,” killing you slowly everyday. A variety of factors would contribute to…

The first place I went to was Jimmy Johns. I learned that they will hire anyone looking for a job because if you are old enough you can cut meat, but if you're not old enough you can just make sandwiches. I also learned that you have to be eighteen to drive the take out car. They have flexible hours for us college students and will work with us on what fits best for our schedule.…
that all changed. Instead of looking for work right away, my dad decided to stay-at-home with…
People were not able to afford the food we sold. We had to lower our prices just so that we could get something for the work we were doing. The lower the prices went the more I worried about my family’s welfare. Eventually, we had to move out of our home that we have had when we first got married. I was heart broken, devastated, and full of despair. I had a plan to avoid this situation but I did not have a plan to back up that plan. I had money saved in a bank for a rainy day, but the bank our rainy day money was in had gotten taken when our family bank went…

Four months later my father borrowed some money from his friend, and we opened our small business where we were selling leather jackets just to make some kind of money to eat and pay the rent. Nine months later, my father tried to take us to school, but they did not accept us because we did not…
On August 2003, I was hired as a cake specialist for the first Super Target in Memphis. I worked as a cake specialist for the first two years and later became a deli team leader. I knew that this job would be challenging…
It was a warm sunny day, like the ones you would expect in a summer camp; laughter was the melody that filled the air. Everybody was cheerful and enthusiastic, well everybody except one of our counselors. He was very worried, because his sister had been extremely sick, and nobody had been able to heal her. Everybody in my group had told him how sorry we felt for her, but really nobody connected with his situation, so we were not thinking about it. Instead we were immerging our souls into the contentment that was surrounding us. That day while we were acting, everybody was relaxed, focused and happy on what we were doing. We were living in our own little summer bubble. We decided to take a small break, in between the laughs I remember a friend saying “Isn’t it surprisingly amazing how beautiful life can be?”. That was the last sentence said before a cell phone rang and changed the course of the day.…
One month my uncle needed to go to India so he asked me if I can help run the gas station with my grandfather. The gas station also needed an extra cashier to run things so I agreed to be one. I worked from Monday through Thursday from 6 a.m. to 2p.m. I remember not liking waking up that early and I didn't have my own car so I had to get a ride with my uncle, who left his house around 5a.m. So then I had to wake up even earlier. The only things I liked about the job was that I wouldn't get taxed, I got paid in cash. Another good thing about the job was that my uncle told me that I can eat anything from the store but eating the products is bad for the store. I didn't think about whether it was bad for the store or not. I just kept eating. I think I got fat from eating so much junk food.…
However, I stayed behind with my father in his quaint home. A home with more luxuries than the home my mother and I shared before she left. We parted with a promise that I would return to her later in the year, but I couldn't uphold to that. I stayed behind and lived the life I was expected to lead. I would get good grades, I would go to school, come home. But my life was boring. I was bored of the simplicity in the life and in my father. He was a traditional man, whose biggest dream for me was to go to the nearby community college, graduate and start a…
