In the beginning of the novel, readers are introduced to Amir during his childhood and his distant relationship with Baba. During his “quest of redemption”, he needs to find Sohrab in order to create a sense of closure for all the negative things he has done in his past. Similar, Baba made several mistakes through his life that impacted many characters, especially Hassan Amir. He kept the secret his entire life that the two boys were half-brothers. Just like Amir, Baba had to redeem himself for all the sins he committed. They had “both sinned and betrayed. But Baba had found a way to create good out of his remorse” (Hosseini 303).
