In The Kite Runner, Khaled Housseini used acts of betrayal from Amir and Baba to describe how impactful betrayal can be on a person's conscience. Amir was insecure so he betrayed Hassan to get validation from his father because that was all he’s wanted throughout his life and the decision to betray Hassan made him feel guilty throughout the rest of his life. Baba’s betrayal is because he wanted to continue his affair with Ali’s wife and continued to present himself as moral and honorable, but in reality he was a hypocrite and a fake friend.
