Driver Readiness Page 2 of 10 Physical Readiness When you drive, you get information from all of your senses. You see, hear, smell and feel the motion of the vehicle - all of this input helps you to be aware of your driving environment, to predict what might happen, and to assess how to react. This information is processed by your brain and keeps you aware of changing situations. Sensory input helps your brain understand and decide when to accelerate, steer or brake. You also need to be in general good health with no injuries or illness that might prevent you from operating your vehicle safely. Vision Vision is the primary sense used in driving. Life for me has been very interesting. I started off in the nursing field as a nursing assistant and patient care tech at 19 working my way through school both full-time and part-time until I finally graduated from Virginia State University with my Associate’s of Science Degree in Nursing. After accomplishing that goal I have reached somewhat of a plateau in my life I have so many short and long-term goals I want to accomplish both professionally and personally. Some of professional goals are, becoming a supervisor at my current job, obtaining my Advance Life Support Certification, obtaining my Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, enlisting into the Navy Nurse Corps, becoming a Nurse Practitioner, and eventually one day becoming an Administrator of an Acute Care Facility. As well as having professional goals in life you should have personal goals. My short and long term-personal goals are; relocating to Chicago, Illinois, getting married, and having children. The typical American Dream. These goals are not far from my reach with self motivation and perseverance all of these goals can be accomplished.…

There exists this pressure on my generation that we must have our entire lives already planned out to a T. Even as a fifth grader, I remember a prompt on a state test asking “Describe your lifetime goals and how you will achieve them.” This question is asked throughout our lives in different variations but the point remains the same. What are you going to do with your life? Asking me this prompt throughout my years in high school would have given you 4 completely different answers. Just a couple months ago I would have given you a different answer than I would have now and I’m sure a similar story can be said for almost any student. Lifetime goals evolve as we mature and grow throughout life, and my high school career reflects these changes.…
My major goal in life is to become an elite officer in the Army CAG (Delta Force). The Army ROTC is a direct route into this process by graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and at the same time becoming an Army Commissioned Officer. At that point, my next move is start my track to entering the Ranger Battalion or becoming a Green Beret. The Army ROTC curriculum will help enhance my leadership skills so that I may become an elite operator who will be able to lead his men with, not only the experiences and knowledge gained through ROTC, but in life. As I have enjoyed and excelled through my years of Army JROTC I wish to continue with the Army as they have invested time and money into just as a cadet making career obligation…
Whenever thinking of my short and long-term goals, five total goals come clearly to my mind. Three of them are short-term goals, and two of them are long-term goals. My first short-term goal is getting a leadership position in Sigma Alpha. There are multiple officer positions, and I want to apply to one. My second short-term goal is to get a job as a Summer Staff member at Gasper River Catholic Youth Camp & Retreat Center. I have volunteered as a counselor for Gasper River in the past, but this year I am applying to be a staff member which means I will be at the camp Sunday through Friday all of the summer watching over the campers and leading them in activities. My third short-term goal is to become a peer mentor for the Agriculture LLP (2017/2018 School Year). If I am offered the position, I will help freshman make the transition into college a smoother process. One of my long-term goals is to own a farm, and house. The other long-term goal is to become an agriculture education professor.…
I’m about to go downtown to the factory to try for a job. I’m nervous but I think I actually might get it. Another one of my friends just got a job at the factory. It’s been 11 years since I was in school. I had no choice but to leave. Uncle Sam said I had to go away for a year. Luckily I was able to finish the spring semester before my year long trip to the sand. I enjoyed my experience overseas and felt that I wanted to do it full time and help others. When I came home I got an active duty job with the Army helping wounded Soldiers. I spent nine years doing what I loved. When my time was up on active duty I decided I was going to continue my education and finish my degree. But before I do that I wanted to spend some good quality time with my son. Being in the army is demanding and gave me little time to spend with him.…
Graduation had to have been one of my biggest goals. I’ve had many throughout high school, but this would by far be my greatest accomplishment. I had overcome the whole high school episode. Graduation was something that had to be done and something I wanted to do. I have always known that I was capable of anything I put my mind to, and finishing school made that clear to me and everyone else. If finishing school could be done then, I knew I had other things that had to be done. Graduation taught me how to maintain a schedule, how to deal with lengthy school days, and make my family proud. This was just the beginning of the many things I had to overcome.…
