Biological Components Involved In DNA And Brain Processes
Trait theories that suggest a biological component are involved in DNA, and brain processes. The genetics of DNA gives us an inheritance of the personality we get from our parents. “The biological perspective on personality focuses on why or how personality traits manifest through biology and investigates the links between personality, DNA, and processes in the brain.” Sometimes we get personalities from watching other people’s behavior at a young age, and we inherit this behavior. “Heritability is the proportion of difference among people that is attributed to genetics.” Sometimes a person will tend to have a personality that they developed on their own. “Temperament is a person’s normal manner of thinking, behaving, or reacting.” https://www.boundless.com/psychology/textbooks/boundless-psychology-textbook/personality-16/introduction-to-personality-76/genetics-the-brain-and-personality-317-12852/

I believe that it is flawed to ask how much of a particular behavior is due to genetics and how much to experiences, because it is a rigid explanation that tries to attribute a particular proportion to each part. The key point is to recognize the complex collaboration of both nature and nurture; the environment inputs along with the genetic code play and important role on human development. As a result, each person develops different types of personalities. Besides, scientists, still have many types of challenges ahead behind human nature.…

Psychologists from the biological approach assume that behaviour and experiences are caused by activity in the nervous system of the body. The things that people think and feel, say and do are caused, one way or another, by electrochemical events occurring within and between the neurones that make up their nervous system, particular those in the brain. Many biopsychologists also agree that because the development of the brain is determined (at least partly) by the genes a person inherits, that behaviour may be influenced by genetic factors. Furthermore, because the genes we inherit are the result of evolution, many biopsychologists think that behavioural and psychological characteristics may have evolutionary explanations.…

On the other hand biological theorists believe that genetics can determine a person’s personality. Some concepts state that even if biology plays no direct role in personality, the way a person looks affects how one sees himself/herself and how others interrelate with him/her. This unintended affect controls how a person develops into adulthood. Biological viewpoints teach that intelligence and genes could define a person’s personality. Temperament and mental disorders are thought to be determined by biology. Humanistic theories seem to be generalized, though biological theories are overcomplicated. Although they are wide-ranging opposites in their concepts, together they contain the essence of personality.…

Neurotransmitters are chemicals that transmit signals across a synapse, a structure that permits to pass electrical or chemical signal to another cell from one neuron to another. Neurotransmitters are synthesized from converting substances that are readily available to the body such as amino acids, which are available from food and only need some converting into transmitters. Neurotransmitters crucial to daily life and functions. Scientists are uncertain exactly how many Neurotransmitters there are, but more than 100 identified.…

Traits are what make us who we are; they are the relatively permanent aspects of each of us evidenced by the consistency in our interactions. The trait theory states that we inherit personality characteristics from our parents at birth, which will influence the way in which we behave in situations, both in sport and everyday life. Characteristics such as humour, feelings and beliefs will define a person for who they are and what they do with their individual sports.…

Physical features, although unique in some measure, are proven to be acquired from the biological parents of any organism. The Nature v. Nurture debate relates to humans and how they develop their unique behavioral habits. Many who support the Nature Theory endorse essentially that a person’s intelligence, personality, aggression, and sexual orientation pertain primarily to their DNA stemmed from their biological parents (Powell). For example, if someone’s parents are depressed or violent, the Nature Theory supporters conclude that their offspring will also bear these negative these traits. However, the Nurture Theory presents that these behavioral aspects are originated predominantly from the environmental factors of our upbringing, which…

This is the theory that People are born with their characteristics and they are past down in their genes from their parents. This theory is also known as the nature approach. Trait is a word used to describe personality characteristics and it is generally defined as a continuous quality that individuals possess such as sociability, leadership and determination. Trait theory suggests traits can be seen as enduring and consistent behaviours across a range of situations. Trait theory takes several traits and using these works out what causes people to behave in certain ways in certain situations. For example an anxious, irritable, impatient, nervous person would be more likely to crumble under pressure. This could cause a footballer who is more than capable of scoring a penalty kick to miss an important penalty in a big game under pressure.…

Over recent years the nature vs. nurture debate has been extensively discussed and researched. Out of the four positions of the nature of traits, I strongly agree with the behavioral disposition approach. I believe we respond to certain stimuli in certain ways. According to McAdams (2009), traits are the tendencies to act, think or feel in consistent ways that interact with external influences, such as cultural norms and situational variables, to influence a person’s functioning. My position is behavioral disposition which states traits exist as dispositions that exert a significant impact on behavior. My comparison is the Neurophysiological substrates which states, traits literally exist in the central nervous system.…
