Homosexuality on the other hand is one of those behaviors that, even with extensive explanation, it is still misunderstood and looked down upon. In the article “Biased assimilation and attitude polarization in response to learning about biological explanations of homosexuality” by David Vogel & Guy Boysen, a study was ran to see if knowing about the biological reasons of homosexuality will change their negative opinions about it. Vogel & Boysen mentioned “learning about biological explanations of homosexuality does not universally increase positive attitudes.” (Vogel & Boysen p. 756). What they meant is that the people who had negative attitudes towards homosexuality did not change at all, because they already had a preexisting biased about homosexuality and the cause of the behavior. This shows that even with all the biological and psychological evidence possible, the people with negative attitudes will just use these well-founded evidences as excuses for their opinions to change on homosexuality. To prove that with research and education, individuals who oppose homosexuality would become more sensitive to the behavior, rather than the opposing views to become stronger. More biological and psychological research must be conducted to better understand the origin of sexual orientation and sexual behaviors in humans. The research will later help to educate people on how human sexuality develops and how human sexual behaviors differ from person to person. More research will also determine whether outside factors might push an individual to prefer a particular sexual behavior, things like culture, religion and family values. As stated before, the more educated an individual is on human sexual behavior, the more tolerant that individual becomes of the behavior. After the research was done, the reader can clearly note that educating an individual who has an opinion before explaining the reasons will not help the
