Biomedical Engineering
Behind the seemingly endless innovations that biomedical technology has seen in the past decade lie thousands of biomedical engineers pioneering new inventions day in and day out for humanity. These engineers work with biology and cutting edge technology hand-in-hand to invent systems to diagnose patients, repair human anatomy, replace organs, and a plethora of other restorative solutions. However, a technology perhaps not discussed as much as the new-age neural prosthetic or virus-busting microbots, yet equally as important, is the technology the biomedical engineers utilize to develop biomedical solutions. Included in this development team are two main groups of technology: analytical tools and simulation and design software. Biomedical engineers …show more content…
This software can help an engineer create the invention and run it under tests on the computer. To first process the data, an engineer would use analytical software in order find trends in the results. Computer Aided Design software, or CAD software, are programs used universally by engineers to implement specific materials and aesthetics into a creation. Finally, simulation software will allow the engineer to observe how the product will behave in different environments. This is the last step of the scientific method, determining whether or not an engineer must revise the product or continue in development. The technology behind biomedical engineering is easily as important, if not more important, than the product that engineers put out. With technology to help engineers both measure behavior on the physical plane and analyze results on the digital plane, the development process has become much more reliably efficient and consistent.
