Birds By Johnson Heada Analysis

In the painting by Martin Johnson Heade we see three beautifully painted hummingbirds in the South American rainforest.
This piece of art is Heade's most unique piece from a series of more than fifty other paintings due to the fact it is the largest one out of the series and it contains three birds while the others do not. This a beautiful piece of art. As I wondered throughout the museum nothing caught my eye like this painting did. The beautiful oil paint on the canvas had such lush colors in the flowers and hummingbirds. The scenery of the mountains in the background are so soft but strong. Seeing the red pink colored flowers makes me joyful and reminds me of the flowers I would receive during important days and events in my life. I feel at peace from this painting due to the nature that it submerses you in. I feel the tranquil effect from the mountains in the distance. Lastly, I feel the hope this painting gives me due to the way the sun is coming through the clouds. It reminds me of how I always say there is a light at the end of the tunnel and that not all hope is gone. You just have to make it through the darkness from the cloudy day to find the sun that is on the other side.

This piece is colorful and vibrant. The colors complement each other in a beautiful way that makes them dance around in your eyes. James used many different types of brushes and thicknesses of paint to create this piece. The lyrical lines and patches bring a since of water colors coming together. There are dark contrasting colors that pull your eyes from one side to another side of the painting. My eyes however immediately go to the colorful bright side. The contrast however is interesting it is almost like the dark and light side that everyone has. Some days you are happy while others are sad and miserable. It explains how life works. It's this constant back and forth pulling you from one side to the other. I guess on this certain day I was feeling bright when I looked at this painting. However, as I am looking at it today I realized the darkness in the painting. On this particular day I was feeling a little dark. Your perception of a painting can change just like your moods do. On day you might see something new that you didn't see the first time you examined the painting.
With modern art it doesn't have a certain image you are looking at. It is colors strategically placed to form a feeling and emotion that only the artist can really feel when they painted it. However, everyone that looks at it gathers their own emotions and feelings towards it. Certain colors may resonate with other people and remind them of an event in their life.
