In my opinion, this was going to be, another great movie like Kunta Kinte.
Birth of a nation the movie is like an appetizer to Kunta Kinte. Reflecting upon the souls that have lost their lives, for freedom. When time stands still and we begin to want to learn again, Birth of a nation will become a classic. Even though one viewer state that Parker is fine as Turner, especially during the fire-and-brimstone sermonizing scenes; unfortunately, his bias in starring in a film that he also wrote, co-produced, and directed shows throughout. Which is true, because others cast were not exposed as much as others. In other word, parts of the story were left
out.
With an opening quote; Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, that his justice cannot sleep forever. The story follows Nat Tuner throughout his life, as a child struggling to read into a powerful preacher in the south. The owner then turns Nat to conserve his Family name. Using Nat to encourage slaves to obey their masters. After serval events, Nat becomes unease or subsided by the words of god, and yet encouraged by them.
Birth of a nation left me requiring more and upset at the injustice. I would be so content if there were to be a part 2. I feel like something is untold about Nat story in this movie. Even though, it still gives enough to encourage to find the truth behind Nat Turner. If you have not seen it, you’re missing out, on one of the untold historical events. I will be adding this to my collection of must watch again movies.
