Black Market Organ Donors Today, due to poor health, there are several patients who need new organs from people, specifically kidneys. People who have the same blood type as the patient: type A, B, AB, or O, can donate an organ under their free will. Unfortunately not many people want to do this out of the kindness of their hearts, so there is a black market out there for organ donors and patients. On the whole, the black market for organ donating should be left alone because in the end it is saving people’s lives, not hurting them. From my perspective, it is hard to deny a person an organ when the patient’s quality of life is not really living. Many people who are the ones receiving the kidneys have been on a wait list for the organs for a very long time, it can take years until the patient finally gets a kidney. However, if the patient contacts the black market for a kidney, then they could get it within months. Patients who are getting a kidney from the black-market are typically on dialysis, and that can take up to eight hours a day. In my opinion, being hooked up to a needle for eight hours a day is not a good quality of life. If that person got the kidney from the person, they would have those hours in the day back, that person could probably have a better time doing the things they wanted to do. Looking at the donor’s perspective, who usually come from third world countries, the donor is more than willing to give up their kidney because they are getting paid a considerable amount of cash. They know the risks that they are taking, but the donor gives up his kidney anyway because of the rewards they will benefit from if the surgery is successful. The donor will make as much money in one donation than they will in 1-2 years. In their case, money is the motive so they can have a roof over their head, or so they can feed their families.
