Hook-lipped rhinoceros known as black rhinoceros are native to eastern and southern Africa. lots people think that this black rhinoceros are called black because of their color but they color vary from brown to grey. same as other rhinoceros, they get their foods from plants. unfortunately black rhinoceros are in danger of extinction. around 1900 there were more than thousands of them in Africa how ever according to the International Rhino Foundation in 2008 there were only 4240 of them alive in that area. one the main reason that they population decreased was illegal hunting. one of the early hunters are the europeans that went to Africa. first they were using them as a food source but then after a while it became a hobby for them.reason that black rhinoceros is so valuable for hunters is their horn. black rhinoceros have two horn on their head and that's why hunters like them. at the moment country of Namibia has one of the largest black rhino populations in the world. the good news is that black rhinoceros are under protection and monier by the WWF ( world …show more content…
