Blended Model Advantages

One of the pros to the blended learning model through personal experience is, it is perfect for a busy student who is involved in an abundant amount of extracurricular activities. Without a set meeting time for the online portion, the student has the freedom to, as one would say “come to class”, at their own personal convince. Whether that time be early in the morning or later in the day, the student is not restricted to to a specific class meeting time for five days a week. The blended model also goes to teach student responsibility for doing their work and getting it done on time. Without a regular meeting time, and having a teacher remind them of upcoming due dates, the students have to learn how to mange their time and become responsible adults. From a personal standpoint, this would have to be one of my personal favorites
Another huge pro to the blended learning model is that it teaches its students real world skills that they can use beyond their time in the classroom. Instead of having a student graduate with a transcript filled with multiple grades, on different grading scales, the blended approach gives students the opportunity to become more than just letter grades on a piece of paper, but rather gives its students the opportunity to explore and create things they are learning about (Fernstein, 2014). Another pro to the blended model is that it breaks away from the one size fits all learning model, that several have grown up with.
