At the beginning of this course, I hoped to learn about cultures that I previously knew little about. I think that this class did help me achieve this goal. I learned about issues, like the Arab Spring, that I had little knowledge of previously. One issue that I knew especially little about was the Blood Diamonds. While in the past I had heard the term "blood diamonds" mentioned, nobody had ever thoroughly explained what those were and how they came to be. I never knew that slaves mined the gems, and that the money acquired from selling the diamonds was used to fund a war. The issue helped me see how influential the shopping habits of developed countries can be on other nations across the world. If there is an injustice taking place, every

This course provides you with a major learning opportunity. More so than in the other international business courses that I teach, which include big dosages of presentations by me, here members of the class play larger and significant roles. All members of the class will make presentations based on case study assignments and article readings. Nearly always, the presentations are very successful. The members of the class are asked to provide for everyone detailed outlines of their presentations. It is…

The class has broadened my thinking process quite a bit now since the beginning of class. The Oral presentation on gentrification in El barrio has changed my outlook on how communities in the united states are being manipulated to change because of the area they live in and how that area is in need of change but not for the betterment of the people that live in that community but for the investors and other people that are trying to move in to change the demographics of that community. These kind of communities are hurt the most because sometimes the property is valued more than the culture that is being asked to step aside.…

I really enjoyed participating and learning about America’s dynamic political policies. This class was very useful and I have used the social, cultural, political, governmental and economic prism method to dissect numerous policy topics for other classes. The format encouraged class discussion and it was engaging to hear what other students thought on hot topic issues. I also believe this course taught me how to have more meaningful political conversations by learning how to refrain from personal political ideology and rhetoric.…

I am Joshua Apeku, born and raised in Ghana, West Africa. This is my second year at Tarrant County College, pursuing Associate of Arts. I will be transferring to UTA, sometime next year. Reallocating to the US has been the most important event in my life, I have learned a lot of things. The culture is totally different compared to the other side of the world. An example is, people in Ghana will see it as an insult to receive or take something with the left hand, whereas here it is normal. I have family here so this change not really affect me. I am hoping to learn more about the history of this country in this class.…
