The purpose of plasma is a fluid that is separated from the blood. It looks like urine or a yellowish fluid or substance. Plasma is used to treat many diseases and conditions. (CSLPlasma, 2014) One specific treatment that plasma has been used for is congenital and acquired primary immune deficiency. (CSLPlasma, 2014) Plasma has also been used on burns and fluid replacement therapy. The purpose of red blood cells is to provide the body with nutrients, to carry oxygen to the tissues, and helps to remove waste from the body. (WebMD, 2014) Red blood cells are found in the blood and half of our blood contains plasma. (WebMD, 2014) Platelets help with the clotting process of the blood. They can be found throughout our blood. (WebMD, 2014) The cause of anemia is not having enough red blood cells that are healthy or unhealthy hemoglobin. (WebMD, 2014) Anemia is caused by the loss of too much blood, red blood cell improper reproduction, and destroyed red blood cells. (WebMD, 2014) I have read that there are more than 300 types of anemia that affect people every day. One is that a person may inherit anemia during child birth. Anemia can cause symptoms of fatigue, chills, and night sweats. (WebMD, 2014)
Sickle cell is inherited and is normally only found in Black Americans. The blood cells are shaped differently and it due to a genetic defect. (WebMD, 2014) This causes the blood cells to eliminate themselves rather quickly causing lack of oxygen to the organs in the body. The reason this disease is so painful is because the blood cells become trapped in the blood vessels. (WebMD, 2014)
Thrombocytopenia is when the platelets are very low in the blood. This is usually found in patients that have leukemia or immune system disorders. (WebMD, 2014) A person that bleed quickly and their blood does not clot this can be a sign of thrombocytopenia. (WebMD, 2014)
The only blood disorder that can be prevented is anemia.
