The outpatient treatment center works with people who are chemically dependent and their families to educate and overcome their addictions. "They are the faces of your brother, your sister, your coach, your teacher, your employer, my son and your daughter. They are people that are no different than anyone else they are just regular people," says the mother of an addict, Marlene Rohe. "The systems are overloaded.They are just massively overloaded so this just gives us more opportunity to get our patients in more quickly," says the chief of Section of Occupational and Environmental Medicine of Guthrie Hospital, Theodore Them. Doctor Them says the partnership between Guthrie and Trinity is that Guthrie will manage the medicine and Trinity will manage the rehab and counseling services.
If seeking help from Trinity, the Chief Executive Officer, Ann Domingos says first they do an evaluation to lay out a treatment plan. "I really hope the stigma of addiction is reduced. People are so shameful to talk about it, but it's an illness so I really hope that gets conveyed," says Domingos.
Stacey Richmond has worked as a guidance counselor for 21 years at the Sayre Junior Senior highschool and says she often sees the beginning of addiction in students. "Over the years several students have come in that were just starting to experiment. A lot of times kids feel that experimentation is okay. If they are just using once in a while so it's not a problem at least they dont see it as a problem.Unfortunately that cigarette use, smoking marijuana once in a while, experimenting with prescription pills turns into doing harder core drugs or using more and then it becomes life changing for them," explains
