Boca Chica has a legacy of its own, one that has nothing to do with nose cones and rocket thrusters. The space launch will be quick, easy money. Not only will it damage an immensely valuable coastal grassland, but it will also annihilate the habitat for “one of the most sought-after Valley sparrow specialties, Botteri’s sparrow” (Oko). Brownsville is a nice, peaceful place, but if SpaceX settles, it’s going to be “a lot [busier], a lot [louder], and a lot more [congested]” (Burnett).

That’s a lot of money flowing into Texas’s most chronically depressed region. Although, when really taken into consideration, how many of these jobs are actually suitable and ideal for the people that currently reside in Brownsville? Many here are not adept into the world of Aeronautical science. The jobs SpaceX will be ‘creating’ are nothing more than job openings and transfers for people that have past experience in this field of work or are transferring over from other private launch
