All of this time, the factions have live is peace but lately the faction Erudite wants to take the power and will do anything to do so. They want to make all of the Dauntless members brainless-soldiers and kill of abnegation. To do so they team up with the leaders of Dauntless: "Eric said every Dauntless was injected yesterday. So now the entire faction is a brain-dead obedient, and trained to kill. The perfect soldiers. " Here, Bodeen describes how the people who blindly followed the leaders of Dauntless are now being used by them. In many dystopian societies, groups like Erudite use their power to control their people. In this case, Eurite uses their power to get the leaders of dauntless to turn against their own members and brainwash them. Ever since the time came where they had to get to the compound, he has been making many rules that are not needed and making it harder for everyone in the compound. He even is making clones and completed disregarding everyone including putting them in danger. Eli tells us:
“Dad ruled our lives in the compound the way he did on the outside.” There dad acted like a tyrant. They wouldn't be able to get out of the compound if there life depended on it. And lately for them, it was looking like it might. In this case, the dystopian control is their dad completely ruining their lives while they follow him blindly. This gives reason to why so many of us follow leaders blindly and it end up bad on our parts. In conclusion, “The compound” and Divergent are both about people that follow leaders blindly ending badly for them. Both use contrasting moods and dystopian controls to portray the theme that blindly following leaders is not always wise.
