The story is about a firework maker called Lalchand and his daughter, Lila, who also wanted to be a firework maker.
One day Lila runs away to get the last ingredient needed to be a successful firework maker. In a volcano Lila finds the royal sulphur (the last ingredient) but she was in danger of burning. Her friend Chulak, and the white elephant Hamlet, save her from the flames of the lava by giving her some fireproof water from the goddess of the lake. Later on there was a big firework display.
Lalchand was arrested for helping the white elephant escape from a slave house. So the king told Lila and her father, Lalchand, to enter the firework display competition. If they won the firework display Lalchand would be set free, but if they lost he would be executed. This would be judged by the loudest applause. Fortunately, they had the loudest applause and Lalchand was set free.
What I liked about the book
What I liked about the book was the description about the firework display, because it included all the actions of what the fireworks did, it was especially my favourite part because Lalchand didn’t get executed.

What I didn’t like about the book
The thing I didn’t like about the book was when a slave told the king that Lalchand helped hamlet escape. I didn’t like it because it meant that Lalchand would be executed.
