Major Characters The protagonist is Marylin. This character is dynamic. In the beginning, on page 67 , it says, “We could use new cheerleading uniforms,” Marylin said, smiling her best enthusiastic Student Government representative smile.” This shows that she likes being a cheerleader and would want to make the team better with new uniforms. At the end, on page 209, it says, “ I just wanted to let you know in person that I’ve decided to leave my position as cheerleader,” Marylin said.” This text is saying that she doesn’t want to be in cheerleading anymore. Or else, Is Matthew Holler my boyfriend?” This is saying that she thinks about him a lot. At the end, on page 183, it says, “She stood there for minute, staring past Matthew’s left shoulder. “But i don’t want to care,” she said finally.” This is showing that Kate is giving up on obsessing over Matthew. V. Connection The text I connected with this is Diary of a Wimpy Kid. The reason I connected these two books is because in Diary of a Wimpy Kid the main character, Greg, makes a list of cool people. In my book popular people and unpopular people can’t talk to each other.
VI. Critique
I liked this book because it was interesting and you don’t know what will happen next. This book leaves you hanging. I like books with drama and this book has a lot of it. I also like how it was in third person point of view, so it switched between different people.
VII. Theme The theme of this book is that you have to let go sometimes. You may not want to let go but sometimes you have to let go.
