How many of you this morning chose what you were going to wear today? Throughout our lives we make millions of different choices. We choose what to wear, who to talk to, whether homework is important enough to finish or not. But there are also many things we have no choice over; like what the color of our eyes is what color our hair naturally is or for instance your sexual preference. Almost everyone knows of the struggles in the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Queer and
Ally or the LGBTQA community, from legalizing marriage, to even domestic partnerships. The
LGBTQA community has had a never ending battle over just trying to fit in. Many people against this community are always asking if we just want to fit in then why do we choose this lifestyle. If we all could choose our sexual preference I'm sure half of the LGBTQA community would choose to be straight just to save all the heartbreak and the battles they face everyday.
What I would like to know is what makes you think we choose this lifestyle? We're not looking for fights or to be hated, we just want the normal rights any straight couple has, to get married and live in peace. For those of you who still think that we choose to be gay lesbian or bisexual etc. I have one question. When did you choose to be straight? If I went and asked any of the protesters that think homosexuality is a sin and the wrong way of life when they chose to be straight I can guarantee they wouldn't have an answer. No one chooses their sexual preference, granted, sometimes the little teenage girls that think it's "cool" to be bisexual.
When someone identifiys as gay or lesbian they may not have known they were at first. That is why in LGBTQA the Q stands for questioning. No one chooses to be gay they only choose to act on their feelings. Most girls or boys don't wake up one day and say I'm going to be a homosexual today! In many cases they know
