Boyz N the Hood

Boyz in the Hood" is a film that protray’s social problems in South Central Los Angeles. Tre, Ricky, and Doughboy are the main characters in this film that grow up together in their neighborhood or as they called it "the hood". All three characters struggle with different internal issues which helps them grow as young men. Tre is a good student who has dreams of furthering his education by going to college. With guidance from his father, Tre learns responsibilty and character. Ricky is an outstanding athlete who is trying to earn a football scholarship to USC. He feels that sports is his only outlet to greatness. Ricky's brother Doughboy is an all around gangster that associates himself with violence, alcohol, and crime. Doughboy , which means drug dealer, on the contrary maintains a strong sense of pride. Basically, Boyz in the Hood tells the story about life in South Central Los Angeles with the struggle of young black men as they turn to education, give into violence and drugs and hope high for college. Boyz N the Hood is a better movie because the effects of positive role models are seen through the portrayal of violence, crime, and family values. "Boyz N the Hood" has an effect on positive role models. Violence is delayed until the viewers learn more about the characters and develop sympathy and feelings for them. In this way, violence is portrayed in a more meaningful and emotional way rather than just for entertainment. In this movie one of the main characters is Tre and he attempts to stay away from violence because his father has taught him many values. Near the end of the movie when Ricky is killed, Tre eventually decides not to use violence because of his father's influence. In the movie there are characters without role models Doughboy goes to juvenile hall as children and eventually prison for committing crimes. Tre, on the contrary, stays away from trouble such as drugs and alcohol

Tre and Mookie are the main characters in both films; the movie is filmed through their eyes. We can see how they view their peers, their circumstance, and we can sympathize with their struggle for man-hood. Unlike Mookie, Tre has the only father figure in either film; this gives him an advantage over the other father-less men. Tre has a guide, a mentor to teach him right from wrong, so he seems to not get in a much trouble as his neighborhood “homies.” Ultimately, Tre is the only one who succeeds in “escaping” the ‘hood and accomplishing the dream of a normal middle-class life. Mookie, on the other hand, is a poor father to his own child; he lacks motivation, and depends heavily on his sister for support. Without a father figure, Mookie is doomed to stay in the ghetto, and has little chance for success.…

John Singleton’s Boyz N the Hood, is a film that strongly illustrates violence, drugs, family life, respect, responsibility, and education. The movies opens with a statement “One out every 21 Black American males will be murdered…most will die by the hands of anther Black male.”(John Singleton) This film concentrates less on the conditions imposed on the Black community and more so on two central themes, the lack of respect and inability to take responsibility. Throughout the film people show blatant disrespect for one another. ‘Brother’ fights ‘brother’; they call their own friends niggers and the women are referred to as whores and bitches. The scene at the cookout is a prime example of disrespect towards women; it takes for Tre to point…

Roughly the first fourth of Boyz N the Hood takes place during Tre’s childhood in 1984. Several key actions during this period will be met with analogous moments later on in the film. Firstly, the triangular relationship between Tré, Ricky, and Doughboy is established. Specifically, Tre is set up as a neutral party between Ricky and Doughboy. The scene displays this idea of Tré as being neutral. One of the first shots of the three together frames Tré in the foreground, while Ricky and Doughboy fight behind him. This scene also parallels a scene near the climax of the film, where Doughboy and Ricky are fighting, and Tré is attempting to break them up. econdly, personality traits of the three principle characters are also created. Ricky is constantly seen carrying a football, foreshadowing how deeply he will come to depend on the sport as a teenager. After Ricky's ball is stolen, Doughboy attacks an older boy in an attempt to retrieve it and is beaten in the process. This is exemplary of teenage Doughboy's often reactionary and violent behavior, as well as it's equally violent consequences.…

“Boyz N the Hood” is one of the many films from the 1990’s that displayed gang violence among African-Americans in urban areas such as “Juice,” “South Central,” and “Menace II Society.” However, “Boyz N the Hood” is known for more than just depicting violence. The Library of Congress had place it on preservation in its’ National Film Registry and even referred to it as “culturally significant” in 2002. Never realizing it after watching it the first few times, this film gives a perspective on what the typical African-American family is like during this period. 2 of the families the movie focused on the most were Tre’s and Doughboy’s. They shared a lot of differences and a few similarities but the most common factor is that their parents weren’t together.…

The tone of act five is immediately dfferent than the previous act because the tone for act four shows that Faustus is now afraid of his death. During act 4 he wasn’t afraid of death as he just accepted. As he watched the Pope is brutally abusing others he is somehow enlightened. In a way he would have lost his cool because now he is afraid to die. What is happening in this situation is that Faustus is relying on the Good Angel to come back and protect his soul, The first scholar wants Helen because the first scholar just like the angel is triying to tell that it is never to repent. God will never forsake one. God tried to give little hints such as preventing the blood from coming out as he cut himself but Faustus is just too dumb to realize that and he is believing that God has already repented him. The First Scholar trying to guide him to god by saying, “ Happy and blest be faustus evermore,” (35) What Helen is representing for Faustus is that she is a prize. She is the ideal model for power, where everyman will fight for her. Faustus is has the power but he doesn’t have advantages over the subjects that are important.…

Parker further mentioned that Lord Macbeth had arranged a grand party for king and his sons. After hearing the news of king murdered the whole Scotland is mourning for their beloved king but they are also outraged and want to know who committed this foul deed. The real question is who first found the king's body. In an interview with Lord Macbeth he said" early in the morning, two noblemen, Macduff and Lennox, called at the castle to visit King Duncan but when they entered Duncan’s chamber they exclaimed “o horror horror horror!” lord Macbeth also said “before anyone could investigate I killed the two guards, their bloody daggers were proof that they committed this horrible deed.” King Duncan’s two sons Malcolm and Donalbain fearing for their own lives fled Scotland, Malcolm for England and Donalbain for Ireland. Because their hasty departure makes them appear guilty and prime suspects they ran away. Macduff says, “Is speculated that king’s sons have bribed the guards to kill Duncan because the crown passes to nearest eligible kin.”…
