Submission for Stability
I walk the new paved streets the government provides, I live and pay for the house the government allows me to stay in, I ride the bus the government pays for me to use, I put my trust in the men and women of the services the government formed. The government is where I should put my trust, but does that mean I should give up my freedom for them? Does that mean I should give up what makes me, who I am; should I give them my individuality for protection? The answer is no, the government should be the one to protect our freedoms, the government should be the ones to respect our individuality. Children are born depending on what the society calls for, they are denied true development, but the citizens are made to be happy with their lives, even the character says “We don't want to change. Every change is a menace to stability.” (16.51 Aldous Huxley.) This price is to high. In order to have stability and to be happy one must give up their own individuality, their government drilled into their heads that stability can only be achieved if people think and look the same, their government wants machines, not people. The people are separated into groups the Savages and the Fordians. The Fordians were much more Technologically sophisticated, The government took their personal views and give them things that forced them to be happy, opposite to them are the “savages” who retain they’re individuality and learn useful abilities, ideals and emotions which help individuals to grow. Soma numbs the people’s emotions even more. Whenever a slight chance of freedom rang for them, they took the soma. Soma along side the entertainment the government provides, it lives the society with a sense of emptiness. Creativity, Spirituality, and destructive behaviors are all been purged, with that any type of terror or violence. Brave new world is extreme dictatorship, there is no war, crime or poverty. However this may seem like a wonderful future, it’s really just an emotional-less and freedom-less way of life. To think that a government would go so far as to force it’s people into this and I fear that our own government will fall into the same story with the Patriot
