The book starts off with Parvana going out with her Father daily as she is his escort so she could get out and help him. Shortly after, the Taliban's arrested Father as he got an education in England and not in Afghanistan, which angered the Taliban's. Since Father was the only man in the house, the family and Parvana had to make a brave decision in making Parvana to look like a boy. They cut her hair, changed her clothes and gave her a new name. With a storyline with all the events and turns occurring in the book, it brings you into the book to read more. It's as if you're there with Parvana. The book was an easy read as the story was interesting, and the words were easy to read and understand. With all great books comes an end but, this ending left you with a very big cliffhanger in which Parvana and her Father are on their way to Mazar to see if her family is still alive. It really makes you want to find the next book and read more on what happens with their
