Bridge Terabithia
Bridge to Terabithia
The title of the book that I will be reviewing is called Bridge to Terabithia. The book was written by Katherine Paterson in 1977. The genre of the book is realistic fiction and children’s literature. The book is set in the small town of Lark Creek and the magical land of Terabithia in 1970.
One of the main characters is a ten year old boy named Jesse Aarons. Jess had long straw coloured hair and was quite tall for his age, he was white and thin. Some character traits I noticed in Jess were determination, respect, responsibility and creativity. He showed determination because when he wanted to be the fastest kid in his school he ran everyday all summer for him to become faster. He showed respect because when talking to his teacher he would call them ma’am/sir. He showed responsibility because every day he would wake up and do his chores without being

Man, Man vs. self and Man vs. Society. The story showed Man vs. Man because Jess was getting bullied by two kids in his class and when the girls were being rude to Leslie because she didn’t have a T.V and finally when they wanted to get revenge on Janice for taking May Belle’s Twinkies. The story showed Man vs. self because Jess felt that his parent didn’t feel good about that the fact that he loved to draw so he hid his drawings from his family. The story showed Man vs. Society because in the story Leslie was not allowed to race with the boys because she was a girl. The Man vs. Man conflict was solved by Jess punching one of the boys in the face. The second Man vs. Man conflict was solved by the girls getting bored of teasing Leslie. The final Man vs. Man conflict was solved when Leslie kind of became friends with Janice. The Man vs. Self conflict was not really solved in the story it was just not mentioned any more. The Man vs. Society conflict was solved when Leslie and Jess became friend and stopped racing with all the other

Do books deserve to be banned because of a person's imagination? I don't think so, but there are many people who believe that a book could influence a person. The book, A Bridge To Terabithia has been challenged since 2002. Some people think the book contains Satanism and offensive language. It seems odd that this book is being challenged, since it is considered a children’s book. Since this book is meant for the age group of children that are nine and older, a person might wonder why the author would write a book about Satanism. Out of all the books being banned, many people doesn't believe that this one should even be challenged. There is a valuable message in this book that shows how one can go against stereotypes, stand up against fear, how friendship is can affect one’s health.…

It led awareness for racial segregation, and inequality for minorities. But most of all it showed of how events during childhood can directly impact the morals, and identity of people. Moral growth and identity are not just formed on how our parents raised us, the friend groups we spent time with, but can be traced back to how we perceived right and wrong and various experiences we faced. Jeremy Finch’s morals, and identity changed through, an unjust trial in his hometown, his love and protection of his family, and understanding his community. Protagonist in books push the story plot forward. The protagonist in this book was not a super villain rather the simple idea of what is right and what is wrong. He is a fun-loving kid who faces many challenges. He is a totally a dynamic character. Auggie, that's his nickname, changed in this book; it’s almost like Auggie grew up more throughout the story. He became more mature and would talk to people at the end of the story. He would’ve never thought to do that at the beginning of the book. He changed for the better, for sure. Another character is Olivia or Via. Via is Olivia’s childhood nickname. She is also dynamic. Via faced the sadness of losing her friends and being excluded from a lot. Eventually Via just made new friends solving all her problems. Via is Auggie’s only sister. Summer is another character. Summer becomes one of Auggie’s best friends. Summer is a dynamic character. She steped outside the box and talked to Auggie when she didn’t have too. She showed Auggie kindness; she is an outgoing sweetheart. Nobody can hate Summer. My favorite character is Summer. She is just a little ball of sunshine. She helps Auggie in a time of…

A character that I have found interesting in Thursdays child by Sonya Hartnett is Devon, I found this character interesting because he never quite gives up on his dream of owning a pony, he is very stubborn and shows this by bluntly asking Cable “would you pay me Mr Cable?” showing he would only do work if there was a chance that he could get money for his pony. He is also very headstrong and shows this when Audrey complains about Cable he says “Ill kill him I swear”, showing he is very rash.…

The main characters are Robert and his cousin Elliot, there's Robert's mom, and his little 5 year-old sister, they lived in a farm but then they all went to Sachem's Head to live with Robert's grandparents, his aunt Nan and uncle Jake, just until his father returns from fighting overseas. His dad was a bomber pilot in Europe. Elliot, the cousin, was the ‘difficult' type of person; he would put barricades and expect you to climb over them. Elliot would have his ‘personal world', not letting others in easily, and he would ignore you if necessary, just so he could stay by himself, so he wouldn't need to give any explanations to anyone. But he didn't have many defenses, as mentioned in the story; Robert could look into his eyes and see everything he was feeling.…

Jess is the main character in the movie “Bend it Like Beckham”, she tries to be a good girl for her mother and father but can’t help sneaking off to play football. While Jess has to lie and sneak around a lot, she is not intended to hurt her parents any way. Jess has always been very strong and determined in the movie, except over time she becomes even more determined, and even stronger. We see Jess talking to Beckham at the beginning of the movie, and as she grows and matures, she finds out she can have trust in other people. She finds Jules and Joe who she feels she can confide in and talk freely to. Jess is a lot like me in real life because my parents are strict but over time I had them to trust in me and gain the confidence from them to me. Also in the movie jess made new friends and got to find her comfort zone with jewels and her coach and she was not shy anymore and that is also like me because i used to be shy but I grew out of it and I don't let that get to me because I will need speaking skills in college.…
