What are the levels of IT integration
There are 5 levels of integration that business and IT can be at. * Level 1: most basic, level is efficient use of IT within an organization * Level 2: describes the effective integration of IT systems * Level 3: results in the alteration of a company’s business methodology * Level 4: is concerned with the alteration of a company’s business network * Level 5: – and highest – level results in a change of business direction
Describe which level your organization is at?
I don’t think that it makes sense to look at an organization as a whole in terms of these levels, as all businesses will always be partially in each of these states.
This comes from the natural way that business policy is iteratively implemented. First a problem is identified as needing a solution (level 0). Later some basic systems will be used to directly target the priority 0 scenarios and keep the workers unblocked (level 1).
Once they are unblocked planning for moving to the next iteration takes place, perhaps a web portal will be created or some more scalable solution will be put in place (level 2).
As this grassroots solution begins to prove itself as a value add, older polices are deprecated and this new system comes in to supersede it. By definition this is altering the way business is done (level 3).
