Bud Not Buddy Research Paper

Rules are made up so that things can be calm and life can be lived in an orderly fashion. For example , we have rules in school so that we can behave and present ourselves in a respectful manner. When rules are in place, most of the time it makes people responsible for themselves and their behavior. The title of the book is Bud not Buddy by Christopher Paul Curtis, published in 1999. This book takes place in 1936 during the great depression with a boy name Bud that is motherless and can't find his father but his mother left a clue, a flyer leading him to flint Michigan. In Bud, Not Buddy, Bud’s rules that help him thrive, three examples of those rules are #118, #83 and #23
One rule that helped Bud thrive in the novel was rule #118. He says “If you give adults something
He says “ If an Adult Tells You Not to Worry, and You Weren't Worried Before, You Better Hurry Up and Start Cause You're Already Running Late.” This help Bud thrive because now he knows to worry only if an adult tells you to. He knows to worry because when his mother told him not to worry she died. This shows that there was a reason to worry. This helps him thrive because he knows to worry but to not show people that he is worried. In the book he showed his mother he was worried and it caused her to be stressed out.

A third rule that helped Bud thrive in the novel was rule # 29. “When you wake up with people around stay asleep to eavesdrop”. This help him thrive because when he was playing like he was asleep the lady was talking about Grand Rapids. This help him thrive because they were saying that he was dead. This just proved that if it is a lot of people around you then eavesdrop because it might be important. In Body paragraph #1 I proved that bud rule works because he did not get his suitcase taken.
