Woods isn’t achieving. To begin, the founder of Buddhism is Siddhartha Gautama. Siddhartha was born in 563 B.C. He was the prince of northern India. He was the son of King Suddhodana and Queen Maya. Siddhartha lived a very luxurious life and was pampered by his father. At age twenty nine, Siddhartha would finally be exposed to the outside world.
While outside he saw the world from a different perspective. He would now be exposed to poverty, disease, and death. Gautama gave up his family and possessions to find a cure for the world’s suffering. For years, he wondered through the forests of Kosala and
Magadha. He meditated to achieve peace and fasted. After six years of searching for an answer, while Siddhartha was meditating under a tree. Suddenly Gautama would achieve Enlightenment.
Enlightenment is state of inner calm and understanding. After this experience,
Siddhartha would become known as Buddha. Throughout his lifetime he would spread his religious thoughts and his philosophy until his death in 483 B.C. Buddha would live until the age of eighty.
