Unit Title: Bugs, Bugs and more Bugs!!
Content Areas: Science, reading and writing.
Unit Description: Students will work independently to research an insect of their choice. Students will research, record their findings, and write a paper.
Skill Knowledge: Students will need to know how to use a RAN chart, flip chart, and flow map. Students will need to be able to read grade level material, there will be some below grade level and above grade level material available.
Unit Understanding/Knowledge and Skills to be learned:
 The students will demonstrate the ability to find information on a single topic.
 The students will model how to use different types of writing maps; bubble map, circle map and flow chart.
 The students will recognize and understand the life cycle of their insect.
 The students will recognize and understand the habitat of their insect.
 The students will recognize and understand the food their insect eats.
 The students will demonstrate the ability to write a research paper.
