Bullying is a deliberate intimidation with the threat or act of violence for the purpose of coercion or manipulation of others to do things that are against their will but comply because of fear, humiliation, or in order to avoid pain. Bullying is any form of a put down, making someone feel physically or mentally like they are not good enough. Bullying is when people repeatedly and intentionally use words or actions towards anyone or a group of people to cause distress and risk to their wellbeing. Bullying is ongoing through repeated verbal, physical or social that causes physical or psychological harm.

Keeping someone out of a group whether it’s online or offline is considered as bullying. Acting in an unpleasant way towards someone, giving nasty looks, making rude gestures, name calling, being rude or impolite and constantly teasing is classified as bullying behaviours. Spreading rumours or lies about someone, mucking around that can go too far, harassing someone based on their race, sex, religion, gender or a disability. Intentionally and repeatedly hurting someone physically, intentionally stalking someone or taking advantage of any power over someone else.
Bullying can happen anywhere. It can happen in schools, at home, at work, on social networks, text messages or emails. It can be physical, verbal, emotional and it also includes anything to cause distress or harm towards an individual.
Bullying can affect individuals in several different ways. A victim of bullying may feel guilty as if it is their entire fault. They may feel hopeless and stuck like they can’t get out of the situation. Feeling alone, like there is no one to help them and feeling like they don’t fit in with the cool group. They might feel depressed and rejected by their friends and other groups of people, also feeling unsafe and afraid. Feeling confused and stressed wondering what to do and why this is happening to them and feeling ashamed that it is happening to them.
