Explain the distinction between the crime of burglary and the crime of robbery.
The difference between burglary and robbery is that robbery is confrontational which makes it crime against person, and burglary isn’t which makes it a crime against property. As stated in the book “burglary is considered a property crime in which the thief seeks to avoid direct contact with people during commission of the crime. In addition, locations of burglaries are usually unoccupied homes or businesses where no witness are present. The crime of robbery is quite different. Here, the robber chooses to confront his or her victim at a location where witnesses are present. Robbery is therefore classified as a crime against persons” (Pg.456).

Define burglary tools and identify five different examples.
As stated in the book burglary tools is defined as “any instrument designed for unlawfully entering a structure.” (Pg.650). Some examples are crowbars, lock picks, hammers, screwdrivers, and bolt cutters.
Identify and explain the five major methods of forceful safe entry.
Peeling or Ripping: The burglar peels or rips an entry to the door by using burglar tools to open it.
Pulling: When the burglar uses V-plates to slowly remove the dial from the safe.
Blasting: When the burglar uses explosives to blast an opening to a safe.
Chopping: When a burglar makes entry into a safe by chopping his way in by using burglar tools such as an axe.
Punching: The burglar hits the combination dial with burglar tools such as a sledge hammer and uses the punch to break the lock.
Identify at least three different ways how an investigator might prove that property found with a suspect is stolen.
