At present, successful businesses are the witnesses to a developed society. When it comes to earning huge profits, many businesses endeavour to gain certain levels of popularity in society. Once businesses claim to be socially responsible, they should help the society in any way they can. Still, some are also concerned about if businesses focus mainly on social issues, the economic stability will be influenced. Whether businesses should help or should put less effort or help society in any way they can is always discussed. Personally, I agree that businesses help society in any way they can. I am going to discuss my views with the provision of examples.

Businesses are closely related to citizens’ livings. We need necessities to make our living and get them from trade. Trade is a kind of business activities. It is no matter citizens never live as a norm without businesses. In the case of developer hegemony, unscrupulous businessmen purchase flats and make them luxuries for citizens. Facing the ageing population’s problem, the huge housing demand alerts the insufficient flat supplies. Businesses should guarantee citizens to have a stable living under the condition of making profits continuously.

Businesses have a great leading power in a city. Whenever there are big social events, businesses are involved. In these couples of years, environmental problems are heavily discussed. It is suggested that businesses should take the initiative to develop both a green and economical environment. Would it be an appropriate way that the infrastructure project destroys and pollutes the environment? In kinds of charitable issues, businesses should help in any way they can, such as directly donating the money or setting up

In underscoring the importance of social responsibility Hollender and Breen (2010) point out that in today’s world the society has become a ‘virtual’ licensor for businesses in operation. It has therefore become increasingly important to win the approval of the society: that has become the prerequisite for business survival and therefore a prescription for success since it paves the way for business organizations to begin producing stellar economic and social goods. First, business can help solve poverty conditions. For the longest time, people view business as a profit-making organization with the goal of creating wealth for the shareholders. But increasingly, the business community has developed a greater awareness of the plight of underprivileged people that need attention and aids. Some businesses incorporate social objectives into their mission, while some others take social responsibility as the main goal. In the introduction the authors explain that the problem of the contemporary, narrowed capitalistic conception is the reduced trust that people have in business, which is seen as the reason for all kinds of environmental, societal and economic problems. In this neoclassical view, social responsibility is seen by businesses as a constraint in economic success which arises costs; conducting business as usual was seen as spending enough social benefit. Many companies tried to increase their profits by means of restructuring and personnel reductions; at the same time, communities only perceived little benefit. But according to Kramer and Porter, the competitiveness of a company and the wealth of a community is closely interrelated. On the one hand, Firms need a strong social environment to have enough demand and to be able to benefit from public assets, on the other hand communities gain workplaces by having strong businesses. Firms set corporate responsibility programs only to improve their image and as cheap as possible, not because they regarded it as a productivity driver. Further more, they define themselves as “global“ and often do not have a home base which the authors declare as “something profoundly important“ in strategy theory in order to create value. Companies neglected the interrelation between a distinctive value creation and societal needs and focused more on the industry. For this reason the government had to arise laws restricting the success and competitiveness of the companies,…

In today’s globalised world where free market economies are the driving force behind companies constant pursuit of maximisation of profits, there seems to be a clear deficit of social values and commitment to serving society. This essay will turn the light on how business organisations’ ultimate aim is to generate profits and CSR activities are secondary if not often ignored. The essay takes the position that CSR initiatives are recently being acknowledged as not only beneficial to society but equally beneficial to business over the long term. The lure of quick profits has now demonstrably hurt the credibility of big businesses with disastrous consequences for business as well as society. In short, business goals must increasingly view the interest of all stakeholders as equally important if society’s faith in market capitalism is not to be completely forfeited. Hence in this essay I will argue in favour of CSR initiatives and how companies today cannot survive without fulfilling certain obligations they have towards society.…
