Madhav:
Good morning, I am Madhav Mishra and these are Minh Tran, Anthony Honeyben and Hyeonjae Cho. We are a group that will be critically analysing the situation of sustainability in Indooroopilly State High School, which is concerned with the social and environmental responsibilities of the school. We will also be looking at business sustainability at Indooroopilly, which is also concerned with the financial aspects of sustainability.
This is an overview of our presentation: first, we will define business sustainability. Then, we will talk about the importance of business sustainability at Indooroopilly, afterwards going over three sustainable business practices in place right now. Subsequently, we will …show more content…
Rainwater harvesting is a process in which water that hits the roof of a building is stored and reused. Rainwater that hits the roof travels through roof gutters, to piping and then through filters to a tank where the water is stored. The captured water is then used for any water consumption, including sanitation, drinking, cleaning, and cooling. Rainwater harvesting at Indro helps the environment by saving water, the community by setting an example by using rainwater and the school by reducing …show more content…
Currently, a lot of plastic is wasted at Indro. Waste such as plastic is extremely harmful to the environment as it may take up to a thousand years to biodegrade. Throwing waste into a normal trash will take it to a landfill, where it may take up to a thousand years to biodegrade. A better alternative to this is to recycle that plastic, an alternative which the school currently does not have. As the school has over one thousand five hundred students who eat food every day at lunch with plastic wrappers, covering, containers, there is a lot of plastic waste. While Australia recycles some 46% of its plastic, 54% of it ends up in landfills; there is still a lot of room for improvement. If the school introduces plastic recycling systems, it would benefit greatly. By introducing plastic recycling bins, it would call for a number of improvements at Indooroopilly. It would benefit the environment by lowering greenhouse gases, saving landfill space, lowering plastic that goes into the ocean and reducing waste around the
