Caffeine Should Be Allowed In School
Imagine you’re a student with an essay due the next day. You spent hours working on it, slaving away to write the perfect paper. You’re just about finished when- Oh no! Your little brother snatches the essay off of your desk, tearing your only copy. The only solution is for you to stay up all night rewriting it. When 7 am rolls around, you’re exhausted and ready to sleep. There’s one thing that can keep you awake, caffeine! You buy a monster or an iced coffee and drink it during lunch. A teacher approaches and demands you throw your drink in the trash. You have no energy for the rest of the day, resulting in failing all your assignments. Caffeine should be allowed to have more energy, to help kids with headaches or other issues, and because they taste good and make kids happy! …show more content…
Imagine sitting in class, miserable, for three hours waiting for lunch time. When it finally arrives, you’re overjoyed that you can now happily drink the iced coffee you had in your locker. Since coffee isn’t allowed, a teacher makes you throw it away. Your mood and your day are ruined, causing you to not care about schoolwork. After repeat offenses of breaking this rule, you decide you hate your school, leading you to skipping classes, littering, and vandalism. If schools can keep students happy, those problems would be avoided. Letting students drink what they want during lunch will help ensure their happiness. In conclusion, schools should allow coffee, energy drinks, and anything else students want to bring into their cafeterias. They’ll keep students energized and alert, help students with medical issues, and keep students happy with drinks they enjoy! Although there are some concerns about allowing these drinks in schools, I believe the pros outweigh the cons. Please consider letting students bring in the drinks they enjoy to school, for the reasons I listed here and

Caffeine can be found in many different available beverages, such as, coffee, tea, soda, and energy drinks of course. Many people do not recognize that caffeine can be toxic at certain dosages, and lead to very serious health risk. The demand for the product is increasing all across the United States. Hsu shows the negative influences of caffeine on the everyday life of Americans, especially that of a teenagers. Hsu explains that since the introduction of Red Bull to the American market in 1997 the market has since skyrocketed. Hsu takes up a position alongside Dr. Griffiths and other authors of the John Hopkins study “that energy drink manufacturers should clearly indicate the amount of caffeine on labels and shift marketing efforts away from teenagers.”…

Why not bring back the healthy snacks? School vending machines bring many benefits into consideration. Think about the amount of money these snack machines can make. Half the profit can go into good charities if it’s thought well. It can also help to purchase any supplies, material the school would need. We should have vending machines because students would then have to take responsibility in spending their money wisely, which will then give them help for managing their future finances.…

“So from eating out, we can also learn how to make wise choices.” This would make students prepared for college by enabling them to leave campus and eat what they want. This independence would get kids ready to face the real world. “It provides a semi-sheltered climate to allow students to grow and become responsible.” This would give teens the privilege of not being watched every second of the day. If students disobeyed the rules of when they should be back, they could take away the privilege or give punishment. Throughout high school students don’t have very many opportunities to show how independent they are any letting them leave for lunch would be a perfect way for teens to show teachers they can be trusted and can survive in the real world.I know a lot of high school students who are very shy and keep to themselves. With the ability to leave school during lunch, kids would become more outgoing because there would be many more chances for them to socialize and interact with the real world. “If students have the privilege of off-campus lunch, they will gain more responsibility and more experience on how the real world works.” All kids have a big part in the future of our job…

Schools have decided to ban soda and snack machines in most schools in order to cut down on childhood obesity. School districts think that the high-calories in snacks with low nutritional value are the reason most children are at an unhealthy weight. It is safe to say that students want to have all eating options accessible at their fingertips. By taking out vending machines, and fast food spots, students will be outraged. In the article “Fast Food and Soft Drink Corporations Should Be Banned From Public Schools”, we can see that it doesn’t work. When students are given limited options, they will seek other resources regardless if they are not available to them on campus. If you were to ban this, then students would just go to other schools, which would definitely lower the enrolment rate. Once this happens, then you will need to seek other ways to make students pay. This can all be avoided if we just allow students to be able to eat and drink what they want…

Dated back to the 1400s and possible earlier people have been drinking caffeine to include coffee, tea, and chocolate. Today, caffeine is one of Americans’ favorite substance also including the soft drinks and the energy drinks. Per Hart and Ksir (2015) by 2009 Americans were consuming less caffeine; 45 gallons of soft drinks and 23 gallons of coffee when compared with 49 gallons of bottled water per person. Although declining, soft drinks and coffee are still a major part of American’s caffeine consumption, “it is estimated that 80 percent of Americans regularly use caffeine in some form,” (Hart & Ksir, 2015, p. 261). But the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has not challenged its regulatory oversight on the caffeine use since the 1980s. Adults caffeine use is not of great concern by the FDA because there is no caffeine use disorder, the caffeine is responsible for long-term health benefits, and the caffeine is safe for most adults. Therefore, I consider the FDA current lack of restrictions on caffeine use sufficient and fair.…

Have you ever been at recess and you are just so hungry or craving something good to eat. I have felt that way and it does not feel good at all. The stimulants contained within energy drinks can disrupt the hearts rhythm, elevate heart rates, cause hypertension, anxiety, headaches, interrupted sleep patterns and in some rare cases can lead to seizures. All of the combined ingredients in energy drinks and their effect are still not fully researched and unknown of the consequences, but definitely it has been figured out that energy drinks are NOT good for the body. What is now just an issued because “according to doctors” ; might later turn into laws where there has to be an age limit to be able to buy energy drinks. More than likely they won’t become illegal, but there will be a restriction on them for the safety of the younger population in the…

In this study we are interested in assessing the relationship between average amount of caffeine consumed per day and academic performance. We hypothesized that an increase in average caffeine consumed per day would result in increased academic success. A short survey was composed based on average amount of caffeine consumed per day measured in milligrams and academic performance measured by GPA. This survey was administered through Survey Gizmo to Dr. Pleskac’s PSY 395 class, and a total of 59 participants completed the survey. Overall, there was a slight, negative correlation between amount of caffeine consumed per day on average and academic performance. Increases in caffeine consumed on average were negatively correlated with academic performance. From the results of our findings we are unable to provide strong support for our hypothesis that an increased amount of caffeine consumption will lead to increased academic success. Limitations and suggestions for future research are discussed.…
