Caleb Mulina Research Paper

“The hardest thing was waiting for everything to go back to normal.” Caleb Mulina spoke as he began to explain the tragedies of hurricane Katrina. He was attending college in Hammond, Louisiana in 2005 when he first heard of the Hurricane. He was living in his dorm when he decided the safest place to be was home with his parents in Franklinton. August 29, 2005 was a day that Caleb Mulina was not afraid, but to some, it was a day that is still feared. Although he said he was not scared, still he could stand in his house, “Watching trees lay over in the distance.” The only thing he hoped for was that his roof did not fly off, for all he could do was sit and hope. That was all anyone could do. Although Caleb Mulina was a survivor of the hurricane,
his experiences came no where close to most of the families that were hit. He feels very blessed that the only permanent loss that he suffered, was only one tree in their yard. He had food given to him by the Walmart distribution center since he was a worker there at the time. They had no power just as everyone else, but the one thing he missed daily, was air conditioning. A week of the aftermath had gone by and for him that had been the hardest part. He was waiting for everything to be back to normal. He decided to pack and go to New York where some friends of his lived so that he could have a sense of normalness for awhile. He soon returned home a week and a half later to power and his normal life.
