Malcom Mccormick Research Paper

Once just an ordinary high school student, Malcom McCormick has now become a multi-media rap star. He’s had a life full of ups and downs; his life is interesting, you might think he’s had it easy but he gave up a lot of things because of music. Malcom McCormick also known as Mac Miller, was born in Point Breeze, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Malcom has a few different alter- egos: which are Delusional Thomas, Larry fisherman, Larry Lovestein, and EZ Mac. His mother was Jewish and his father was a Christian, Malcom was raised Jewish and had a Bar Mitzvah. When Malcom was a kid he became obsessed with music. He began to teach himself how to play instruments at the age of 6. He dreamt of becoming a singer/songwriter, no one was feeling his voice and he wasn’t being supported by his family nor friends. Malcom was first hooked to rap, when he first discovered it while smoking marijuana, with his friends. He freestyled to beat that was playing in the background, hid freestyle amazed his friends and even himself, ever since he has been hooked to rap. He stopped playing sports, going to class to put time in to rap, he showed up at school very tiered, telling his friends that he was up all night rapping and writing. Malcom would go to school to pass out his music but hardly attended class, he cut class constantly, but still graduated. Malcom McCormick has
some history with smoking, he first smoked a cigarette in the third grade, then smoked marijuana for the first time in fifth grade. When Malcom moved to Los Angeles, it was because he wanted to get as far away from home as he could. He then started to record and he fell in love with the environment, and was like, “I’m straying”. All that space Malcom had in Los Angeles was either a pro or a con, it was just depends on him. Malcom had entered a stage of abusing drugs and becoming depressed, he said, “Always sitting there by myself becomes very toxic. Then I get bored and think to myself that I could just get high in this room”. His wealth became a problem for him, with all that money he made, he bought a lot of drugs that incarcerated him in his house, he didn’t come out for a while, he also didn’t release music during this time because it was hard for him to get off the drugs and produce it. Malcom said, “I’d rather be the corny white rapper, than the drugged out mess that can’t get out of his house”. He broke out of his drug depression without the help of rehab. Malcom McCormick’s life wasn’t the roughest nor the easiest, he has managed to break out of his drug depression and has sat in court for a few things.
He has been sued by Lord Finesse, Malcom looks up to him, he’s someone that influenced him with his raps. He has also spent the night in jail, in 2011 Mac and his friends got bagged with marijuana and ended up under arrest. Mac feels that being a white rapper is a benefit, because white kids can see him and see themselves and think to themselves ’’that could be me’. Malcom McCormick wants to be positive as a human being and through music but he also wants to have low
points.
