Descriptive essay A calm wintry night looks like mother nature making a white, cold, fluffy, blanket with every exhale of snowflake-filled breath. It looks more peaceful, more connected, more insulated when snow makes canopies out of trees, rolling hills out of rows of cars, sledding trails out of deck stairs, sugar dipped cones out of pine trees, and marshmallow tops on everything. The world looks clean and bright on a calm wintry night.
Warm breath rises in visible puffs to join the darkened clouded night sky. There is a freezing chill in the air that brings crispness to the leaves. A calm winter night brings the warm feeling associated with the holidays. Sipping that steaming cup of hot cocoa, sitting by the fireplace, and being with the people that mean the most to you. Being reminded of the holiday feelings on a calm winter night will truly bring joy to anyone. …show more content…
Sound is muffled like being inside a cocoon of silk.
Footprints sound crunchy but there are no echoes on a calm wintry night. The snow absorbs all sound and the animals are hiding and hibernating, keeping warm in their nests and sleeping peacefully. People are not rushing on a calm wintry night. The weather has provided an excuse to stay near home, to appreciate the beauty of nature, to build a large crackling fire glowing in oranges and yellows. Throw a pinecone in the fire and blues and greens are added to the flames. Hissing and crackling when snow flakes hit the fire. The fire burns steadily, keeping everyone cozy and warm on a cold wintry
night.
Hot breath turns to smoke, cheeks get rosy and cold, fingers and toes begin to ache, and noses begin to run when we stay outside for too long on a wintry night. Lights from fires and lamps and the glowing moon cast ominous shadows on bright white pathways. When the wind blows the shadows move and dance on the white covered land, providing rhythm to a quiet symphony of lights. A calm wintry night is peaceful and bright.
There’s no better feeling than being on top of a mountain on a calm winter night. Looking up into the sky one can achieve true bliss. Seeing the stars light up like disco balls dancing across the dark sky, and the snow capped trees layering the white Mountain. It is the perfect place to go when you need to escape from reality. It feels like a whole new world up on a peaceful peak looking down at the tiny lights from civilization hundreds of feet below.
One of the best ways down from the mountain is snowboarding through freshly fallen powder. It’s as if you’re gliding over a never-ending supply of vanilla ice cream. While riding down the white ocean of snow, it’s hard to remember if you’re snowboarding or surfing after getting lost in the white ocean. The best part is that while one is venturing down the mountain all of the problems and worries they may have are nonexistent for the duration of the trip. Everyone needs to take time and forget about life for a little bit.
There are many aspects of a calm winter night that instill a warm feeling inside. Being the first to navigate a new trail, feeling the cold, fresh air on your face, enjoying the quiet peace of the mountain, and looking up to the starlit sky on a calm wintry night, are all part of experiencing the power of the universe.
