Schools should ban candy and soda because the schools are removing unhealthy and high-calorie items. At least a third of kids the U.S are overweight or obese. That means they're going to have trouble losing weight or even get lazy to get up and be able to do homework at home. Children consume half of the calories that candy and soda have together. Half of the school’s money goes to the vending machines refill. For example, they have to restore the food inside the vending machine. The money that goes to the vending machines could be better use for a nutritious class or even a nutritious foods. But it doesn’t mean they have to get rid of the vending machine instead they could put healthy choices available for the students. Children who are obese can face lifelong struggles with their weight. Additionally, at least 80% of teenagers who are obese remain obese as adults and that's why schools should ban soda and candy so that won’t happen in the future. That increases the risk of suffering from cancer and chronic diseases like diabetes, heart disease, and high blood pressure. Kids don’t realize this because they think that nothing is going to happen to them they just say “oh it’s candy it's not going to kill me or harm me”. Children could even suffer from asthma attacks. If schools fail to ban candy and soda the children may be the first generation to have a shorter life expectancies than their parents. Schools should invite students to play in sports and go to the gym every single day just so they won’t be in risk of not having a healthy life.
