Introducción El siglo XX se caracterizó por un gran desarrollo tecnológico e industrial, y consecuentemente, por la consolidación de la administración. A principios de este siglo surge la administración científica, siendo Frederick Winslow Taylor su iniciador; de ahí en adelante, multitud de autores se dedican al estudio de esta disciplina. En la administración de fines de siglo, el centro de atención es, lograr los mayores niveles de competitividad, realizar planificación estratégica, y empezar a valerse de herramientas de avanzada, como Reingeniería y Benchmarking, Calidad Total, y Justo a Tiempo. Son duras las exigencias del mundo empresa cada vez mas, y si mismo la preparación a nivel general del directivo deberá responder a esas exigencias. 2. Características del gerente del siglo XXI En la mediada que avanza el siglo XXI, varias tendencias económicas y demográficas están causando un gran impacto en la cultura organizacional . Estas nuevas tendencias y los cambios dinámicos hacen que las organizaciones y sus directivos se debatan en la urgente necesidad de orientarse hacia los nuevos rumbos hechos que tiene una relevancia no solo local sino a nivel mundial. Los países y las regiones colapsan cuando los esquemas de referencia se tornan obsoletos y pierden validez ante las nuevas realidades. Desde la perspectiva más general, la globalización, la apertura económica, la competitividad son fenómenos nuevos a los que se tienen que enfrentar las organizaciones. En la medida que la competitividad sea un elemento fundamental en el éxito de toda organización, los gerentes o líderes harán más esfuerzos para alcanzar altos niveles de productividad y eficiencia. Compiled under Alfonso X (1252-1284) and written in the Castilian vernacular, the Siete Partidas resulted from a pursuit to create a uniform system of law throughout the Iberian Peninsula. By the fourteenth century, this seven-part law code emerged as a key legal corpus throughout medieval Spain.
