Carbohydrates are the most important nutrient for the body as it is the largest possible source of energy. Carbohydrate supplies the body with energy, which allows the brain to function more effectively and allows organs to operate sufficiently. When the body has energy this allows each person to perform a variety of exercise regimes such as high intensity, fat burn and continuous training. When the body consumes carbohydrates the digestive system changes carbohydrates to glucose, which is a persons blood sugar levels. Simple carbohydrates are fast digesting carbs that is where the blood sugar increases rapidly the downfall to simple carbs is that the blood sugar will lower again. This type of carbohydrate is found in food such as cakes, candy, biscuits and white bread.
Complex carbohydrates are the opposite as they are slow digesting carbs, as it takes longer for them to digest. This type of carbohydrate keeps the blood sugar levels at a healthy rate. They can be found in vitamins, fibres and minerals. These are found in foods such as fruits, vegetables, beans pasta and rice.
