Career Exploration

When exploring my career path, I was always leaning towards the food business. I have always been employed at fast food restaurants. Since 1997, my first job was at McDonald’s. I fell in love with the job and couldn’t seem to get moved up in the chain of command even if I tried. So I after consideration, I left the company and went onto something else. I went onto numerous jobs, some of them that didn’t fit my personality and creditability, but I tried my best at wherever life took me. When looking on my past jobs and looking at my career path, I have decided that it is my goal to become a successful manager in a food business.
My career path activity led me to my dream of becoming a Business Manager within a successful business. It did not surprise me at all with what I chose, for I always knew what I wanted to do in life. I and one of my best friends wants to own a building and have it divided. On one side, she wants a hair shop, for she is a hairdresser. On the other side, she wants me to manage a restaurant. That has always been a dream of ours and we are currently working on it. I have been employed at Hardee’s now for the past two years. Since then, I have been moved up to a Trainer. I got the responsibilities of training new employees and showing the ropes of the restaurant. When being asked to being moved into management, I told my General Manager, I want to get my degree first. This way, I got my degree in Business Management and I can say learn the ways of becoming a successful manager. I keep dreaming of one day being able to run my own business with my own employees. Like my father always told me growing up,
“Sometimes you got to start at the bottom of the “food chain”, in able to become what you are meant to be”.

My first job was horrible. I did not really know how bad those fast food jobs really were until I got my first job. I was a cook at Whataburger. Yes Whataburger in Decatur, the Texas treasure, the Alcatraz of the west, the worst place to work in America. Believe me when I say that Whataburger is the closest thing to hell a human can experience. Maybe not that far, but it is bad. The job was not that bad at first. Everyone would joke around be relaxed, and have a good time. However, Whataburger does something to you. Whataburger sucks your soul out of you in an agonizing process known as “Whataburger’ll do that to ya,” killing you slowly everyday. A variety of factors would contribute to…
