Career Goals in the Next 10 Years
Kia Dionne Hall
Presentation of my career goals in the next 10 years
EN210
February 9, 2013

“I’m coming back with a vengeance I’ve never seen before and with the confidence and security that will put my negativity to rest”. For so long I allowed myself to be my own enemy. I was constantly telling myself that “I can’t do this and I’m not worth that”. With everyone else around me telling me about all this potential and talent inside of me that needs to get out, I found my mind in a tangle of disbelief. I limited myself, by limiting my abilities. On January 30, 2013, I received the most amazing news in my whole life from my Doctor that changed my perceptive of my life and my goals and I have God to thank for that. With saying that, my goals in the next ten to fifteen years consist of: owning my own financial consulting firm, owing numerous residential and commercial properties and leading several non-profit organizations. I will own my own financial consulting firm. I will start off with a small and intimate business consisting of the best financial consulters and work place. With the success of our work, we will build a strong reputation for me and my business so I can receive more clientele. As I continue to build more clientele, I will be able to expand my business and hire more employees. Because of my successful consulting firm, I will be able to own numerous residential and commercial properties. Buying and then renting out the apartments and houses I own will help supplement my income. With the extra income, I will pay to maintain the condos I buy in different states for future and family vacations. My main plan is to buy, sell and renovate most of my properties that I purchase.
Some of the commercial properties will be used for my non-profit organizations. My non-profit organizations will help people dealing with VPSA (Verbal, Physical and Sexual Abuse), ending poverty and helping those in need of purchasing medical equipment. These commercial

The legal principle established by the exclusionary rule is embodied in the United States of America Constitution and relates to the Fourth and Fourteenth Amendments. The Fourth Amendment protects the people by prohibiting illegal searches and seizures. The Fourteenth Amendment ensures offenders are afforded their rights to due process in a criminal trial according to the law. The exclusionary rule also applies to the Fifth Amendment, which protect the people against self incrimination when charged with an offense by a government officer. Furthermore, the rule applies to interrogations where the offender is often pressured by officers to confess to their crimes. In turn, the rule also applies to the Sixth Amendment that ensures every offender has the right to have legal counsel. Ultimately, the rule greatly influences the credibility of any evidence gathered, by government officers, for use in the prosecution of an accused offender. If the evidence presented to the court is found to have been collected in violation of the rule it may be suppressed in any federal or state court.…

All my goals lead into each other helping me grow and develop into a better person that can now be ready for change. By having the right mindset and setting out to do the goals I said I would I have overcome so much in such a little amount of time. Just like how William Pollard said it best in his quote that I had quoted earlier in my paper about those who are not ready to make that change will be left behind and I for sure do not want to be left…

A strong sense determination has always been a key part of who I am. I've always felt that, like driving a car, unless you take control of your life and grab the steering wheel, you won't get very far, or go in the right direction. In a world full of indecision, seldom do you find someone who knows exactly who or what they want to be in life; someone who bears determination, dedication, and motivation towards their goal. Happiness is knowing one’s potential and acting on it. My ambition in life is to help others reach their goals. This is what drives me. I want to be a social worker for the disabled and rehabilitation. Getting out of bed in the morning for an average person doesn’t require too much effort, but somewhere in the world a 10 year old little girl is missing both of her legs. No one cares, no one took the time out of there busy schedule to believe in her. Somewhere in the world, a mother is telling her little boy why daddy can’t play catch anymore. The neighbors stare in disgust; they don’t know he had his arm blown off by a landmine in Vietnam while defending his country. Someday I will be the one to teach the little boy with a lung disease how to sing, and the kid with the prosthetic foot how to walk. I get my inspiration from my father. My father was born with a mild form of cerebral palsy; a condition due to a lack of sufficient oxygen at birth causing a disability in his legs. This was no one’s fault, his parents and family loved him very much, yet he has had a struggle all his life. He spent much of his childhood in surgery and recovery, including near 2 years in a swimming pool learning how to walk. While other children were learning to run, he was learning to crawl. While other children were learning mathematics, he was in a hospital room. Throughout his life he suffered the inhumanity and absence of compassion that was to be expected from his attending school. Friends weren’t friends; people have a tendency to treat those with…

    Long Term Career Goals

When it comes to my education my short-term goal is to finish out this school year and maintain my current GPA. I find it easier to motivate myself each day if I have set in stone grade goals in mind. My long-term education goal is to finish my Associate of Applied Business degree in spring 2017 and my Associate of Arts degree in spring of 2018. I have enough classes and credit hours to finish a second associate degree in two part-time semesters. My short term career goal is to continue where I am until I graduate and learn as much as I can from those around me. I find that the people around me at my current jobs are very intelligent and it would be wasteful of me to not learn what I can from them before I move on. My long-term career goal…

Though I am sure of my identity, who I am and what I wish to accomplish now, it definitely was not something that came quickly. For a long time, I didn’t think I’d ever have the one special thing about me that I assumed everyone else had- the activity they threw themselves into, that dominated their lives and everyone knew them for. With just about everything I tried, I never quite found that deep passion for anything. I didn’t realize yet that I’d dismissed a significant part of myself a long time ago that was crucial to figuring out what I wanted to do with my life.…

As soon as I was born, my life was in jeopardy. Ever since then I’ve been fighting to keep up, and now I am thankfully completely healthy. I have pictures of myself lying next to a small pillow, and somehow the green and white checkered cushion was twice my size. That’s what happens when you’re born months early and averaging four pounds. Since then, I’ve had four major surgeries and have used my resilience to push myself forward as I continue to be involved in activities in and out of school. I learned that instead of not doing anything and feeling sorry for myself, I had to be proactive. So I gained self-confidence, unwavering drive, and maintained a kind heart no matter what life threw at me. Because one day, after overcoming obstacles trying to bring you down, there will be a happy ending and the light-up shoes that’ll make everything worth…

I’ve learned how to be patient and persevere through tough situations. I’ve increased my problem solving skills through resolving quarrels, and learned to look at every side during a disagreement. I have an outlook I wouldn't have had if things had been different, and the life skills I’ve acquired are uncountable. I have learned so much about myself and what I’m capable of, and I’ve only just realized how much these events have broadened me as a person. I used to believe I’d be behind because of my situation, but now I feel ahead and prepared to face anything. Being who my siblings have always leaned and depended on has led me to realize what I want to do with my life and fueled my passion. I’m thankful for everything I’ve experienced and learned in my life thus far, but I can’t wait to start the next chapter. I know I can persevere through anything, and I will boldly face each challenge that comes my way until I achieve all my goals. One day I hope to be in pediatrics where I can impact the lives of children…
