CADECOM’s goal was to encourage the people to extend on their knowledge and skills by using the resources that are given to them by CADECOM. This is a very sustainable technique because then the communities are able to continue using the things they have learnt after CADECOM’s support. It is evident that this program has met their initial goals when Doney was interviewed about the process that the village is making since CADECOM started working with them. “My life has been transformed,” smiles Doney. “The village is developing... I would like to thank the people of Australia. The support you provide to us is going to the right people, and is helping us." Doney stated. Through CADECOM 225 families have received seeds to improve crop yields, 288 have been trained in food processing, 200 in post-harvest crop handling, 246 in vertical gardening, 177 in crop handling and storage, and 8 seed banks have been constructed. Doney now knows more efficient ways to grow her own crops so that her family no longer goes months without sufficient food. Doney and her family used to use unsafe water from the local river for drinking, cooking, and washing but today they can access clean water since CADECOM and their community built a borehole and water pump. Clean water and hygiene practices learnt through the CADECOM program means the health of Doney and her family have dramatically improved. Doney and her community now have access to clean drinking water, flourishing crops, and are building their knowledge to create a better and more sustainable

Saint José Ramón Agustín Pro Juárez, also known as Saint Miguel Pro, was born on January 13, 1891, in Guadalupe, Mexico. He was one of eleven children, the oldest boy. Sadly, four of his siblings died as babies or young children. From an early age, he was heartily spiritual, as well as mischievous; he constantly entertained his family with his humor and practical jokes. St. Miguel was a dauntless child and sometimes took his pranks and fun too far, putting him in several near-death mishaps. The third oldest in his family, St. Miguel was unquestionably very close with his older sister. After she entered a convent at age 20, he started to recognize his own calling to the priesthood. Though his father wanted him to continue with the family business, Miguel lived for God and entered the Jesuit novitiate in El Llano, Michoacán in 1911. He had been studying with the Jesuit priests for only a year when a religious revolution broke out in Mexico and by 1914, the Jesuits were forced to flee the country.…

On the other hand the Roman system of Alimenta shares a great deal of similarities with modern welfare as it is currently known, the Roman Empire being the birth place of many currently utilized government systems. Originally Alimenta actually began under the reign of the first Roman emperor known as Augustus, at this time it was referred to as Cura Annonae which stood for "care for the grain supply", as the name would imply this particular system under Augustus dealt more with grain than financial status. The Cura Annonae focused upon attempting to provide rations of grain to citizens of the Roman Empire who could not themselves afford to purchase food for themselves or their families, this is the first recorded instance in history of a system…

After the reign of Augustus came four emperors from the Julio-Claudian line, Nero being the last of these four. These emperors tried to not only to esteem Augustus but to construct and leave their own legacy within the Roman Empire. In this time, emperors usually sponsored the building of new aqueducts, temples, theaters, curie, and fora. They also built lavish fortresses for their own living and employed the most renowned architects and artist in Rome. The Domus Aurea, Nero’s personal theatrical palace, offers us the rare glimpse into the privileged lavish lifestyle of one of Rome’s most notorious Emperors.…

I went from being a shop owner to being a slave in the Roman the town I lived in. Becoming a slave changed how I viewed life. When I was a shop owner, I had a feeling of accomplishment, but now, I cry myself to sleep as I was constantly in pain. I usually was a slave for a Roman shop owner carrying out the everyday business transactions, but after the Roman city of Rome burned down, I was put in a group of other slaves whose sole purpose was to be unskilled labor for the construction of Domus Aurea or “The Golden House," (Anderson 1997 52) for the Roman emperor Nero Claudius Caesar Drusus Germanicus (Adkins 1994 21) who we normally refer to as “Nero.” Once I was put into this group of slaves, I experienced many beatings and had to do a lot of grueling work (Anderson 1997 124). My main job was to assist another slave who was a bricklayer. I had to haul the bricks up the Palatine hill along with having to carry the cement and bricks up the shaky ladder to another slave who was a bricklayer.…

This includes the appeals of Caritas Australia, the donation projects and the various missions that Caritas carries out every year. The missions I will be discussing in this report will be based more on the social injustice issues of countries stricken by war, famine and even government oppression. Caritas Australia’s primary approach to tackling the issues of poverty as a result of war, and government oppression is to receive donations from Australians and to produce hardworking volunteers to work overseas face to face with those living in the harshest conditions in the world. Through this approach Caritas Australia is able to sustainably provide necessities to the needy worldwide and within Australia for many years to come. This process of helping others on a large scale has been adapted by other Charitable Organisations that have now become leaders in social justice upholders, including amnesty international and Oxfam.…

They say there are two types of people in the crime world: those thrust into it without any prior knowledge and those who are practically destined to become a part of it. Elias Carrasco belongs to the latter group. He was born in Vilagarcia, a small coastal town in north-west Spain known for being a center of illegal smuggling activities, to one of the members of the local Charlin clan and his Chilean-born wife. They were not high-ranking members, but they were deeply involved with different criminal activities. It was only natural that their son would follow in their footsteps, which was exactly what happened to Elias. Ever since he could remember, he was playing in the corner with other children while grown-ups had ‘business matters’ to discuss. He didn’t mind, though. He was content with their lifestyle, for they had enough money so he never had to live in want of something. He also began to gain interest in actual business. He…

    Damien of Molokai

The Church's social teaching is a rich treasure of wisdom about building a just society and living lives of holiness amidst the challenges of modern society. The Church’s teachings on social justice are founded on the Gospel and have developed strongly over the last 140 years to meet the needs of a rapidly changing world and to respond to a variety of misinformed and in some cases noxious theories of politics and government. The Social Justice Council gives people a significant role in promoting the principles of social justice throughout the community in the hope that this awareness will help governments and public institutions to promote the right notions of justice and the common good. Damien of Molokai symbolises a tree and a dove. He had a role as an unofficial patron of those with HIV and AIDS. Damien once said, “I make myself a leper with the lepers to gain all to Jesus Christ.” His arrival on Molokai was the turning point for the community. Under his leadership, basic laws were enforced: shacks became painted houses, working farms…
