Elias Carasco Research Paper
They say there are two types of people in the crime world: those thrust into it without any prior knowledge and those who are practically destined to become a part of it. Elias Carrasco belongs to the latter group. He was born in Vilagarcia, a small coastal town in north-west Spain known for being a center of illegal smuggling activities, to one of the members of the local Charlin clan and his Chilean-born wife. They were not high-ranking members, but they were deeply involved with different criminal activities. It was only natural that their son would follow in their footsteps, which was exactly what happened to Elias. Ever since he could remember, he was playing in the corner with other children while grown-ups had ‘business matters’ to discuss. He didn’t mind, though. He was content with their lifestyle, for they had enough money so he never had to live in want of something. He also began to gain interest in actual business. He …show more content…
He remained patient until the day of his 14th birthday. His parents didn’t give him any ordinary presents, but they did introduce him to the world of crime. He was allowed to attend important meeting, during which he was treated like any member. This cemented what Elias had known for years---his future would involve becoming a full-fledged member of one of the most infamous crime clans of Spain. He was then introduced to several activities of the clan so he could find his ‘own area of specialization’. It didn’t take long before Elias did find his ‘thing’. At school, he discovered he had an affinity for natural sciences, chemistry especially. The older members of the clan noticed this and suggested the profession of a ‘cleaner’ to him. He would be trained underneath the previous one, as he was too inexperienced to truly take up the mantle, but in the future it would fall upon Elias’ shoulders. After considering it for a moment, he agreed to the

Saint José Ramón Agustín Pro Juárez, also known as Saint Miguel Pro, was born on January 13, 1891, in Guadalupe, Mexico. He was one of eleven children, the oldest boy. Sadly, four of his siblings died as babies or young children. From an early age, he was heartily spiritual, as well as mischievous; he constantly entertained his family with his humor and practical jokes. St. Miguel was a dauntless child and sometimes took his pranks and fun too far, putting him in several near-death mishaps. The third oldest in his family, St. Miguel was unquestionably very close with his older sister. After she entered a convent at age 20, he started to recognize his own calling to the priesthood. Though his father wanted him to continue with the family business, Miguel lived for God and entered the Jesuit novitiate in El Llano, Michoacán in 1911. He had been studying with the Jesuit priests for only a year when a religious revolution broke out in Mexico and by 1914, the Jesuits were forced to flee the country.…

Rodriguez faces a few tensions in his personal experience such as being a "scholarship boy" as oppose to a well rounded student and and his life at home compared to a more friendly home environment. Rodriguez says that "I was a very good student, I was a also a very bad student. I was a scholarship boy, a certain kind of scholarship boy. Always successful, I was always unconfident. Exhilarated by my progress. Sad. I became the prized student - anxious and eager to learn. Too eager, too anxious - an imitative and unoriginal pupil." ( Rodrigues #283 ) Rodriguez describes himself here as imitating his teachers too much and being a perfect student instead of thinking for himself and taking in the knowledge he is given by his teachers and analyzing it and putting it to use. He is unoriginal and and uninteresting compared to a student who can use their knowledge in their own way and gets more involved. The other tension Rodriguez faces his the tension he has with his family, mostly his mother and father. At home his mother and father both support and encourage what he is doing very much but they didn't like the fact that he would always be in his room and the fact that the only thing he was involved with was school. "He permits himself embarrassment at their lack of education." (Rodriguez #286) This quote shows that Rodriguez's amount of knowledge of the english language and other subjects he had compared to his parents and therefore he was somewhat embarrassed by them and it created a tough home environment to live in because he didn't communicate much with his parents. This contrasts the home environment where their is a strong relationship between the family and their is communication.…
